Phys has done multiple snipe events, one of which for the release of mobs into the main world and introduction of Mob Eggs into voting. Plus, there was one a few days ago that contained an eff7 and a melonsword (@Inamine I think can confirm this). So, it's not unheard of and out of the question for Drop Parties to work. Plus, for Mining Parties, there's been Mineruns recently, so…yeah I guess. All I am trying to say is this might happen/happens already. Moving onto the suggestion, I believe the following would be awesome. ~SG Arena Build Competition Teams of no more than 4 Must design an arena that would fit into ECC's SG system (chests placed, traps, secret areas, etc.) Could be a 3 month project. Protocol for the build would be similar to the Spawn Build, with certain dimensions (i.e. Dome Diameter) and features (# of Chests) amongst other criteria that must be met for the build to count. Top 5 receive prizes, 1-2 added into the system. ~Easter/Spring Build Competition Same protocol as usual events Occurs approximately a week or two after the completion of the Space Build in order to give the users time to clear their plots. That is just two off of the top of my head. PvP, parkour, spleef (TNT or snow), or any other minigame-esque tournament would be fun too.
I have a few ideas that may work, and with a rough idea of how to execute them. As such, I will split them into separate spoilers. They are listed in no particular order, however Idea 4 is the most detailed of the current draft I have. Idea 1: Lottery Building, Building Competition Spoiler: Idea 1 As we all know, building competitions are popular, and so is the lottery. However, there has never been a central building that has been "home" to it, even if it will just be "for show". Why not make it a building competition to finally give it one?! Obviously, there would be no changes to how the lottery works, just that there will be some building to represent it, like Andrew's mansion of old spawn. The permanent "winning" building could be kept somewhere in the large market town, or designated to its own region which may get more of these buildings through future building events. The only purpose this / they will serve will be to have a nice gathering point for the community, made by the community. In addition, there could also be a multistage popular vote, with run-offs until a winner is chosen instead of hand picked by judges like the normal building competitions Idea 2: Official Spleef tournaments Spoiler: Idea 2 Spleef use to be much more popular in 2012, however the methods to hosting the arenas have already been found out, and are implemented on the server. [Bridges] can be used to simply and easily refill the arena after a match is completed, however due to the current restrictions on the bridge signs, some popular blocks for spleef can't be used, such as dirt. A good alternative to dirt blocks would be to use snow blocks as they break just as fast, and are already allowed to be used by bridges. There are a few ways to host the event, however the way I would recommend would be: No death 4 players per match Mini prizes based on placement in the match: 50, 100, 200, 400 Survivor moves up in the bracket, second place goes to the "loser's bracket" and third and fourth are eliminated Now, matches may be close, so a staff member at the bottom of the drop should be recording to help prevent disagreements. And a user is only "out" once they touch the water. Grand prizes up to the host In addition to the above, I would recommend this be hosted in the pvp world, so that no user has access to their supporter features, like fly or speed, which would give them an unfair advantage in this, and by hosting in the pvp world, it would ensure no one is trying to cheat with them. Idea 3: A story / lore writing competition Spoiler: Idea 3 Ecc sadly doesn't have any real lore written around it, and this would be a good way to get some of it going, and it could also help bolster the role-playing community here, which never really took off. Having a lore writing competition would help promote both an interesting tale that will give an overarching sense of context to everything that goes on, and give more source material for the role playing group to use. There could be multiple categories to help diversify the submissions that may be received. Best contextualizing story (Must contain at least three events/things/etc.) Best mini lore (Targeting only a single piece, such as lore to how melon swords were discovered) Funniest lore Best Fictional Lore (A story told on Ecc, more of a free form writing) Hamster's Choice. (The hamster's favorite story involving itself. Could be of any other category, as long as the hamster's greatest deeds are told) Among the categories there are a few ways to determine submissions rules, however what I think would work best is: Users may submit one entry per category Users may not win in more than one Should be at least three places per category Idea 4: Capture the flag esc PvP with user created bases Spoiler: Idea 4 Pvp is something that a large part of the community enjoys, however the cost of doing it, and the lack of special events makes anything outside of the survival games near non-existent. As such, this event would solve both of these issues, and allow more flavor in pvp than just Survival Games. I would recommend it be hosted in the pvp world, so supporter features are disabled, and the teams be between 2-4 users. In the set up (which can be over the course of a few real days) the teams set up their base on a plot in a protected child region, pvp disabled, and the interact flag enabled. Since all supporter features will be disabled, hosts should offer the ability to place water and lava for the contestants if they desire them as traps or hazards. The teams would not be allowed to place chests, enderchests, furnaces, or other container blocks to prevent users from storing enchanted items or other items. Each base will need to be expected and approved before the event starts, and I would recommend that it happens about a day before the event starts. Once the base is approved, all team members will be removed from the child region to prevent them from editing it after it is approved. Every team would get a flag -- perhaps a book signed by the host -- and would be titled "Flag of [Team name]". The base must be built so the flag room (an unlocked chest with the flag) is accessed by a hallway. The hallway leading up to the flag room may be trapped, have obstacles in the way, however leaving a path that could be reached without breaking blocks, and can be maze like. In order to prove it is accessible, it must be completed by a host, or one of the team members while a host is present. This includes being able to get to, and back out of the flag room, and they will have five attempts to do so. If they, or the host fails to do it in five attempts, it will have to be restructured, and tested again. After the set-up is done, and the event is about to start, all teams that are going to take part will be in their flag rooms, and will remain there until the event officially starts. When the event starts, the region protecting all the plots will enable pvp, and disable the interact flag. The event will go on for a set amount of time, say one hour, and when the event ends, pvp will be disabled, and the interact flag re-enabled. Points will be awarded based on the amount of flags a team has in their chest at the time the interact flag is re-enabled, with any flags in transit at the time of the match ending being returned to the team that it belongs to, regardless of what chest it was being taken from. Now, since players are going to be dying, re-spawning is going to be an issue that has to be addressed. As such, users that are actively competing must not be allowed to leave the world, without leaving the game in its entirety. As such, there should be a spawn point that has a kit sign with items, say iron armor and sword, and a few warps to get back into the game. The kit signs should have a cool down of about thirty seconds, as that will act as a soft re spawn time. Or, there could be a class system of the signs, however that would require additional balancing beforehand. Before someone says think of the economic impact of spawning these items in, it is something that can be handled. First, disable the ability to use "/sell" in the pvp world, to prevent anyone from being able to spawn the kit, and sell it. Second, since they are locked into the world, which means no access to /home or /eec, and no portal back to the main world while the event is going on(for those that are taking part), prevents them from walking it back. Thirdly, after the event is over, a staff member will check their inventory, then bring them back to the main world. If any of these ideas are found to be interesting to the staff team, I will gladly provide more information or ideas on how to implement them with feedback received.
Spleef Pvp challenges such as bow only, sword only etc. Parkour Racing Maze racing (such as going through mazes riding a pig)
How about a chess tournament? I'm currently building a chess facility with 3 boards, turn indicators, and a spectator section that is completely isolated from the board to prevent people from interfering with a match. It wouldn't be hard for me to double this to 6 boards, though I don't currently plan to do this. Also, I really wanna have an andrewkm vs physicistsmom match. I'd really appreciate responses from both of you about this idea.
Well i had a fun idea that would involve the whole server and i think it is very fun. My idea was a skin competition, there is 2 ways i think this can work. We all post our skins and staff or something widdles it down to around 20 people, then we make a poll and people vote, then take the top 10, then top 5, then a winner! orrr we make it based off of nominations. We count the nominations the top 10 people that are nominated and have the most votes go to the polls! and you guys can decided a prize or something
