    Affect is to produce a change in something, as effect is the ability to bring a result, or the result of something. Affect is a verb, effect is a noun.
    So yes, Moquito has pointed this out, it should be 'effect'. Since "affect" would be the verb, and "effect" would be the noun, the noun only makes sense.
    "The price changes are now in effect,". That gives a better understanding.
