Instead of removing auction, just don't let new players joining the server see it. Make it a channel that needs to be joined before using. By the time BuilderA figures out how to join the auction channel (by typing /ch auc), it's more likely he'll know how to use it.
Hello, First of all so you know, I am at the beach and this suggestion was distracting enough to make me write this out on my phone. Now, I realize this is all about stopping the atrocious legal scam that has been arising as of late. I have a few thoughts on the suggestions that are on here. The first idea that really stuck out for me is making auction less serious. I hate to say this but, I hope this never happens. All I can imagine is players getting into 'fun' bidding wars, getting someone's hopes up and then going 'lol, no I don't want it'. This could turn into a new form of trolling and frankly it would make me completely stop using the channel. Next suggestion I remember is to make it so you have to /join the channel to even see it. Now this is, in my opinion a brilliant idea that doesn't solve the issue this thread was made for. Don't get me wrong, it solves new players spam/false bidding and i would love that. It doesn't fix the horse issue. I have probably said this already but, auction is a hard channel to regulate for staff. By the time we try and force the bidder to clarify a player has already bid. Of course staff have the ability to force an auction to restart if we feel it needs to due to a confusion in the auction. This could be something staff could do more frequently in order to solve the egg issue. In fact, my main suggestion is to make it a rule that if there is found to be confusion/lack of explanation of what the auctioneer is auctioning then staff will stop the auction, clarify it, and then allow it to restart. Thoughts? Revanrose6
I think all egg auctions should be restarted until the precise definition of egg is reached. Opt in /ch auc might help... but it will just turn in to I've more thing builders will ask questions about. And then will immediately join it and we will be in the same boat. I'm not at the beach and now I'm jealous. :-\ Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Isn't like saying 'selling skeleton spawner', in which the player may believe its the spawner item rather then the coords? If you can't understand what item you are bidding on in the first place, do not bid.
Excuuuuuuuuuuse me! I sold an egg at the auction chat for $1600. I clearly said the item was an "egg" and I even had a mod say it was an "egg". Doesn't matter if your new to Ecc or not, the item name is an "egg" not a "chicken egg" in Minecraft and Ecc. It is the user's fault for not bidding carefully, not the auctioneer's. I agree with 1. that it should remove auction chat for builders until they find out /ch auc and know how to use is properly. That is all.
He didn't scam, he simply sold an egg and people bid on it, that's not his fault, that's the bidders fault for not thinking and asking questions.
Yes, just be aware of what you are buying and ask the seller directly what it is your being and don't be afraid to go as far as to ask an item id or place a donation chest. I don't mean to come off harsh, but it is an economy server. Be careful and use caution and common sense when trading.
