The shovel makes absolutely no appreciable difference unless you are digging underwater and the axe makes VERY little difference unless you have fly

It's true.... But yeah, I use some dork's eff7 pick.

 

you can pick your friends
and you can pick your nose
but only navyseals gets to use my eff 7 pick, and not for his nose

I got a pickaxe recently. It was really helpful in completing my digging out of a 200 by 200 area at bedrock where I'm almost done creating a 200 by 200 nwart farm. :)
