@Physicistsmom Thanks Phys! Will the server render distance ever be raised? I love looking at my skyline from far away but it despawns almost as soon as I turn my character around haha. And some nearby Savanna bluffs would have awesome views of downtown from across a bay. I want to rent out floors in this building but I'm afraid of people griefing it. Would something this expensive be eligible for a reset if it were griefed? I added pictures of the lobby down below. It's a griefer's dream, I spent like $8k on the gold blocks alone (1 full stack of gold blocks) Here's the lobby. I tried to recall at least some of the real tower's but it was hard with the 17x17 footprint, and I tried to make it Minecraft themed lol. I've never been to the Sears Tower, though I know a decent amount about it. I made the lobby into 8 "regions" that represent the biomes in Minecraft, Desert, Tiaga, Forest, Savanna, Jungle and Ocean. The double high parts of the lobby ceilings have a big white quartz S with a blue background. The lobby and 2nd level were gonna be an ECC Sears store, but the floor plan's a little bit too small. It makes me wish I did do the 30x30 version lol. This last pic is what you see when you come through the portal to Bertigstadt. Avaina1918 tore down the Ironwood Tower and it helped refocus the view on the Sears Tower lol. That's the big light gray building in the earlier pictures.
Here's another one for you guys. I went to the west of downtown up into a big Savanna biome that overlooks the bay and downtown Bertigstadt. It's really a shame this isn't permanently viewable! I could sell plots for so much money up there, like ECC's Beverly Hills! The skyline looks so real! The Sears Tower is kinda hard to see, if you look close above the white tower you can see its outline. I'm afraid it might ruin the skyline though, as its roof will be up to the top of the antennas in this model. You can catch a glimpse of the parking garage behind and to the right of the white tower too. A highway will dead end into 2nd Street by the white tower, it won't have the median like the segment below does. By the way, this is the bypass that the earlier pics were taken from. This version of the Sears Tower may not exist much longer, I'm planning on demolishing it and building the larger version, which will have the space equivalent of a town 114 blocks on a side! Search for Bertigstadt in the forums to see the new design! Happy ECCing!
View attachment 931 I tore down the Sears Tower in these images and am building the larger version. Here's a progress image, I just finished the first dark band, equal to the 32nd floor on the full size building. I'll post more pictures as the building rises. It'll reach 175 blocks when all is said and done, and it will enclose space equal to a 114x114 town claim! @314 If you'd still like to build a replica of the smaller version of this building, feel free! I could build it for you if you provide the materials, and maybe throw in some ECD for the labor. I kept track of the contents of the original one in case you wanted it.
MAybe at a later time...for now the Piville focus will stay on the 4 european capitals and their related towns.
The new 1/3 scale Sears Tower has officially arrived in ECC! Here's a screenshot from the bypass bridge, the new main entrance, and one of the view from the new Skybox. I rotated the tower 180 degrees so the west side faces east and the east side faces west. It seems to flow with the skyline better, though it bugs me that it's not oriented right relative to real life. I got rid of the white clay antennas and replaced them with sea lanterns. They're a lot closer to the real building than the white clay covered in torches. This building has 35 stories. The floors with dark bands will be sky gardens with grass, flowers, etc. I wrote Sears in the ground on the west side of the building, though I may move it to the east side so you can read it from the Skybox View attachment 942 View attachment 939 The best improvement is the banding on this building. It really broke up the excessive urban canyon feel that was starting to take over downtown. I almost didn't build the new building when I tore the old one down, I liked the open feeling there was with the tower gone, but I rebuilt it. View attachment 940 I didn't totally remove the footprint of the original tower. I left the coal blocks that were under the windows of the first tower's lobby windows where they were, and worked them into the plaza design. View attachment 941
