    SONG CRITIQUE :
I will be judging these songs as if these were the only songs they were allowed to sing. Of course I know they can use other songs, but it helps me with judging ;p.

Song 1 " Let it go":

This song will be very difficult for anyone that isn’t a soprano singer. The best choice of action for a user who is a alto/treble singer would be for them to lower the range of keys by an entire octave or two. Singing it at a different pitch would be the best option for any males/tener female singers. The song quickly switches between a fast tempo and a slower tempo. Giving more emphasis towards the chorus. The song is heavily based around the piano so it seems that a user would need to make sure they are lining up with the piano at all times or they would either throw themselves off or throw the audience off. The song has a high demand of constant singing, leaving little room for breathing for inexperienced singers and even some more advanced singers may find trouble with the song. The song leads off with a very strange form. Each time they go back to a verse and/or chorus they change it significantly and give it much more emphasis than the previous verse/chorus. To be honest this is pretty common for disney songs and is good for the intended audience.

Song 2 “Do you want to build a snowman”:

This song ,like the one above, is very difficult for most male singers unless they were to drop an octave or two. This song has a lot of incidents where they stop the music and do a little scene towards the show. For example the little girl making the clock sound. This will have to be incorporated into singing. Unlike the first song this song focuses more on the piano verses and bridges over actual singing. A good fifty percent of the song is a piano bridge. Based on this fact it’s more difficult to judge the singing since there is significantly less lyrics. The lyrics are repeated so it wouldn’t be hard to remember the lyrics and the voice range is pretty high, but doesn’t fluctuate as much as the first one. This song is significantly more easier to sing compared to “let it go”. I recommend this song to any new/beginner singers that are wanting to participate.

Song 3 “love is an open door”:

So this song opens off with a much different vibe then the previous two songs. They open with a nice bass line with the bass guitar. This song doesn’t focus on the piano as the previous songs but focus more on the the guitar and drumset. With accompanying instruments for the bridges and verses. The main problem i see with this song is the fact that it should be sung as a duet. I don’t believe duets are allowed in the competition so this might hard for some users if they sing this alone. They would have to sing both parts of the duet to the best of their ability, or sing just one part of the duet. This song requires extremely good vocal range if they are going to sing both parts to the best of their ability. By far, this is the hardest song to sing out of the three. I recommend only experienced singers to attempt this song.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD JUDGE :

What makes me a good judge you ask? All my life I have been listening to music and playing music. During 6 whole years of my life in elementary school I had music class every day. Where we would sing, practice, and listen to music. Once I had joined middle school I decided to join Band as I am not the greatest singer " Hence why I didn't apply for the idol competition". Once I had reached highschool and started playing more and more difficult pieces on the piano and drums, I moved onto marching band. Marching band is a physical and mental sport. You require patience and strength to carry 50+ pounds and remember what to play and where. As of now I am finishing up 10th grade and will have 11 years of being involved in music (kindergarden- 10th grade). During my 9th grade year of highschool I had taken a College level music class called "AP Music Theory". The class was about understanding music, and understanding how music is made. We were taught the different voices and ranges , chords and melodies, and where we fit best in music. A huge part of the music theory class was listening to music and juging the music based off what we heard. We were given a sheet of the chords and melodies after we had written down the ones we thought we had heard, and judged ourselves. Currently I am taking online school where they offer a musical class from Juliard. If you didn’t know, Juliard is one of the best colleges for musicians and artists in america. I believe they are in new york, correct me if im wrong. The class has helped me understand music alot more then my previous classes. I also have plenty of experience with almost every single kind of genre of music out there. I’ve listen from rap to country to rock then to hip hop and pop, and everything imbetween. So there is no genres out there that I don’t have a basic understanding of.

As a final note, I would like to know the schedules of when you plan on holding the competition. I searched the thread for applying but could not find a date. I have some plans coming up, like my video game/anime convention coming up, that i’d like to know when these events are occurring.
