I made it a 160 x 160 because I thought that was what the image size for Facebook was.

I'm working on making a mockup, but I did a little testing, the display pixels are 160x160. Once inserted, there will be a white boarder of approximately 4 pixels, so its best to plan for that color and space wise.

I decided to play around with a few varieties. As usual, elements can be adjusted, removed, or added. These are 180x180.
"Flat"
"Flat-Bokeh"
"Flare"
"Flare-Bokeh"
This is inspired by the Server Icon in the Minecraft multiplayer menu.
Combinations of "Flat" and "Flare" don't really work well.
I could adjust the flare in "Flare" versions more if it's obstructive.
I could remove the bottom blue bubble button entirely, but I feel that something that curves can help frame the curved text.
The font can be changed to "Trebuchet MS" if desired.
The rays in "Flat" versions may seem a little unexpected or counterintuitive. It was actually a mis-step that resulted in this, and it took me a little bit to figure out what was going on. The strange contrast was actually achieved just by exchanging the layering with the vignette. I can move the rays down to the more traditional layering for the expected effect, but I feel that this subtile adjustment lends an unnatural, surprising feel. It certainly had me asking, "What is going on here?"
An oddity I encountered was that when the netherstar graphic is centered, the yellow vertex if offset to the left. However, centering the yellow vertex made the whole netherstar feel too weighted to the right. I ended up just splitting the difference. Another approach may be to manually making a netherstar graphic - while easy, I'd rather do that only if it is desired.
While playing with Facebook page mockups, I noticed that the background was designed for the profile pic location, but it is not aligned properly. I could attempt to make adjustments to the raster background to re-allign...
This took about two hours to produce, and I shall still try to play around with it.-
