Dropped Items disappearing

    Ive noticed that if I drop some items, usually by dying, all my items disappear by the time i get back. It doesnt take me more than a minute or two to get back and I have been told they should last for 5 minutes. I just lost 14 units of gold ore, some iron, and my iron pick-axe...just wondering if something can be done to help.
