This happened to me today for the first time in weeks. I did vote1, as usual, and it said I needed to wait tomorrow before voting again. I then went to trying to vote from the 3G connection on my phone (so it wasn't the same ip as my wi-fi) and the same message came up.
I never got the nether star in game. This is a bit scary to me, since I'm going for a vote medal/coupon again in January... if the votes aren't registering, I'm much less likely to get the coupon, which kinda scares me.

I am having this same issue. I go in and put in my IGN, which matches my Forum name, and it tells me that it is not a valid minecraft account.

 

Update: So i ended up logging into my Minecraft account at minecraft.com and had to verify my login. Once I did that, tried the ECC shop and it accepted my IGN
