    Hello, I made this thread in order to see what the community thinks of this.
    When I say tempban, I do not refer to the tempbans given when someone appeals, but in the cases a player needs a temporary timeout. Do you think a mute will do him better, as he will still be in the ECC environment, or will it make the player angrier, as he will be able to see other people (including the ones that were involved in his punishment) talk? Would you rather see someone be denied access to chat, or the server as a whole?
    This is not official in any way, I just wanted to see what the players of ECC have to say.

    A mute might not stop /shout
    I think people like trolls need a nice tempban so they can cool off the server for a while. A lot of times just getting off minecraft for a while relaxes me.

    Mutes just make people angrier. I think temp bans are best.

    I think there should be mutes for like an hour-two hours because mutes make people angry. Then after the mute, they will most likely learn from their lessons. If it's too long of a mute, they wont be able to trade with people and make much money. Each time they get muted it should be longer

    If someone breaks rules, they shouldn't be on the server. Mutes seem pointless to me.
    Temp Bans seem fine.

    Anyway, I feel like mutes will just cause more issues than they will solve. For example, someone gets muted next you know you will either have other users making remarks in global knowing that the person can't reply and/or the person who was muted will resort to other things such as writing in books/other rule breaking.

    I think a tempban is best in these situations.

    A temporary ban from the server is better, because then the person can log off and go do something else, and hopefully gain some perspective on the situation. Maybe they'll go outside or talk to their family or something wholesome like that.

    If they are muted they might stay in game and fume while they powerlessly watch other people chat.
