Usually Administration runs a handful of events a year, but it has been mentioned that you guys would like to see more events. We are willing to take on setting up and running more events. However we lack some fresh ideas. The events we normally enjoy running are; Scavenger Hunts Spleef Build Contests Occasional PvP Tournaments BUT! those get old. So we're looking to add some fresh ideas into the mix. So, let me know what sorts of events you would like to see on ECC. We're pretty open-minded to a lot of things, including prize suggestions. This is an open discussion, any ideas are welcome. The more detail the better.
Maybe we can have a hypixel sorta thing with a personal warp where it can have multiple minigames but I think that would be too much but the idea would be that we would have a portal which we can play lots of games like the old ideas and maybe like disasters, TNT stuff, etc etc. Edit: Also maybe we can have a FFA on that server where the most kills can get a rankup or a good reward, not too good where it would be God like, but not too low because it'll make it pointless. -DiamondLee_ "I quote quotes" Edit: "I quote quotes that were quoted"
Some ideas: 1. Parkour Competition In this scenario, fly would obviously be disabled. If that's not possible for whatever reason, have staff be on the lookout for cheating. 2. Horse Racing We've had some of these before in the past, and they were a bunch of fun. We could include gambling via the sportsbook module as well. 3. Mazes Imagine a huge (200x200!) labyrinth, full of twists, turns, and dead ends! It could be made multi-layer to further increase the complexity and/or size. I'd figure you could have multiple chests scattered around the maze with minor rewards, where the main draw is the end of the maze with the 'true' prize. 4. Pixelart-themed Build Competitions Not too aware of what the themes were of past building competitions, but I don't think I've seen one of these yet. Maybe have the winner's design presented at spawn for a period of time? 5. Server-wide team-based competitions Now, bear with me here, as this one could get a little complicated to host. When hosting this event, offer players the choice to join 1 of 2-3 teams, where each team competes against each other in a race to obtain the most amount of a specific resource. I'd have to put more thought into how this could be done with relative ease, but I'll leave the concept here for now. Could be a really cool event if done right. 6. Skin designing competition Title
I know we have done an event with a giant maze before, in like 2014 I think (not sure if it was server or user run), the only problem is that it takes quite a while to build a massive maze in a way that it is difficult to find your way through, but that event was really fun. There are also multiple ways you could run this, one being putting chests with minor rewards in the maze and if you finish the maze you get put in a draw for the main prize (I imagine this would be time-based) or you could just put all rewards in the maze and have people find them all or whoever finished the maze first gets the main prize etc. I also really like the idea of team-based competitions that encompass the whole server and there are different objectives that have to be met. There are a LOT of ways you could use this concept. (It's basically scavenger hunt but with teams). Overall I think that if there were a couple more events incorporated it would be great, because we don't really want to be saturated with events too often because then they aren't as special anymore. I also think that sometimes the rewards are a bit low, but maybe that's just me.
I'm not sure if ice boat racing is still a thing, but I think that would be fun. Unlike water boat racing, ice boat racing requires a lot of control and dexterity.
I know @Lurxolt did a hide and seek before two Halloween’s ago. It was a huge success. What he did was hide armor stands in his town, so maybe staff can hide armor stands with their heads on it
Unannounced 24-48h gathering sprees in skyblock for some skyblock related reward.. Like just pop it on the forum and discord that the One who is able to deliver.. I Dunno the largest ammount of eggs to a specified area Will win.. could be smaller first prizes with a larger reward pool and vive versa from time to time.. Unannounced so no One can prepare for this specifically... could end up with Odd winners on certain items and unexpected market value fluctuations on skyblock id expect during these shorter timed events.. could Even run with varying times And or hidden end time. I Dunno but i could ser some fun in thay
I am building a spleef arena in my new town! It should be ready in about a week or two and will be open to anyone to play.
Also thought of Something like a farm build contest.. set some parameters of a build like size dimensions and See who can make the farm that makes the most of some specified resource in 24 hours or so. Only viable in skyblock due to hoppers would be needed
Do you know anyone who is good at building good parkour courses? Or have any good examples of parkour courses? This is definitely doable, and even more so with the addition of the new damage-animals flag that can be used to protect the horses from harm. I like it I have actually planned something like in 2017 for Halloween, but I wasn't able to finish it. Definitely still a viable idea. New town flags also add some more control over area and what can or can't be done in it. I'm already getting some ideas about how to offer prizes and what to offer. Pixel-art is definitely a viable idea as a smaller build competition. I'm not inclined to run month-long build comps anymore. Mostly because we no longer have an events area, and why make one when we can just do build comps on a possible future server. What if we did this hosted on the VMR server? To keep everyone on the same field. Trying to host this on Main could get sticky with the combination of star tools and features/money making it easier in general to get items. Also would allow the aspect of raiding/grief as well. This is somewhat similar to a skyblock build contest that pokeball tried to host last season. There wasn't a ton of interest. Do you think there is an interest in skyblock competitions as such? Most people who play Skyblock play casually, or purely for Prestige. Can you elaborate? What was the prize for finding the armor stands etc? Definitely feasible. could even do team racing/tournaments. Loving the ideas! Keep them coming!
I was not here Prior dec. 2018 so Ill have to let you vetrancy rule on this matter.. and im not sure it would catch on on skyblock no.. I would participate.. could do open polls for more detalied info ? But it was just suggestions Hope the quote thing works.. a first for me hehe
I was thinking the prizes could be similar to that of the irl scavenger hunt we host around Christmas time. First person to find one of the staff armor stands gets a point & some smaller cash prize. At the end of the month (or any amount of time), the three players with the most points win a larger prize (gift cards/ECD + Event Medal). Once an armor stand is found, the staff member who placed it (the one who's head is on it) can place it in a new spot. As for location, spawn is a good place, if not someone's town/nation.
If by this you mean where the armour stands were the hiders and the actual players were the seekers, then I would like this but where there are 2 teams which are played by actual users. 1 team hiding and 1 team seeking, then switch over etc. +1 for hide and seek.
I remember one of my friends done something like this of their entire player skin and it looked absolutely fantastic. +1
Monthly server hosted trivia events? Occasionally people are hyped for Trivia and if it is scheduled and advertised, might get even more interest.
Yeah, I’ve seen player-based hide and seeks, and they are unfun with /near, thus why the armor stand thing is my favorite option.
I think a really cool idea would to have a server wide chess tournament. Someone could build a big chest board and we could use certain blocks to represent the different pieces, perhaps different colored wools. If you wanna move a pawn up two spaces, you just break that certain wool and place it there. The staff could make a bracket and it might have to take a few days since chess games can take a while.
@FlyingIsOP this could be done in any town.. So id Think this is just One of Those things you build and advertise... like the Neo yokio casino.. you could challenge people to games and include bets and work from there ?
