Then don't refer to it as a nerdy pop culture, and even the internet has no specific culture. For instance, youtube is filled with haters. imgur is filled with witty people and love. 4chan is... uh... tumblr is where a large part of the tv/anime fanbase is. There are many many many differnet communities/cultures on the internet, don't group them together.
