I feel strongly about this matter, and I feel I should weigh in. I'm sorry if my comment is not welcome, as I am aware of the rules concerning complaints, however I feel that this is a very serious matter to the Ecocitycraft public that requires strong and contributing public responses.

I was not specifically familiar with the terminology, even though I have seen it in many photos and documentaries, until I did a google search. The google search for the German and English translations both immediately produce a large quantity of Nazi Concentration Camp material.

I must reinforce what welikeike22 stated; the most truthy of truths is, though anything can be used in any connotation for whatever purpose, honest or otherwise -- the public effect of an especially historically relevant term is implicit. The basis of a working language, of a working communication system, is that the meaning of terms are quite fixed.

Your stated intention may be of a decent nature. However concerning that context, it is not for you, I, or any small number of people to liberate the term from its heinous history; not to mention the dishonor such an action would perpetrate against the victims of the Holocaust. The n-word is a more public example of this.

The fact of the matter is, as a global society, we see this term in a very negative context. That is not going to change today, nor tomorrow, and likely not to this generation.

 

This IGN is not explicit, and while in another language, it is not using vulgar words, is it not in any way exploiting anyone, and the user is both of President rank and a pretty major Donator.

In all honesty, we have allowed more risque names on this server, and with less complaint/debate about them.
