Hi, me and the good @Tinerco decided to do some tests, we were wondering whether beetroot or cocoa would make the most money, being that they were both worth $0.60 per bean/root, my opinion was they were both the same, however it may not be. We decided to find out.
My findings will be recorded here every time they're both fully grown, for 3 times.
Here they are:
First time: $384 with beetroot, $822 with cocoa.
Due to this, I will not make another, as they are clearly different, cocoa has won,
NOTE: The beetroot samples were in an 18*36 plot, which made me make the cocoa have this amount of blocks. Here is a picture of it:
This might help you in terms of even bothering to make a farm layer with beetroot, as it is much worse than cocoa (please argue with me in case I am terribly wrong xD)
Thanks,
_Sharpy

why not do it against wheat since it's more comparable to that i believe?

Wheat probably will win, since you can't yet sell beetroot seeds to the server. :p

Cocoa can drop multiple beans. Only one beetroot is received from a fully frown crop.
As Samanthurr said, wheat will be more profitable as beet seeds are not yet sellable. If the seeds become sellable, it will most likely mimic the price of wheat again. Overall, this comes down to which grows faster, wheat or beets? -

Cocoa grows faster. Jamie tested all the grow times a while back. I was with him then. Nwarts grow very fast. Unless he did end up nerfing them.
