First, I think it is awesome that you go to both high school and college. It shows your character. Secondly, I was totally impressed with your andrewkm creation - It is truly one of the best I have ever seen. Don't worry about what others think of your prices - It is your time and your skills that you are sharing with others. It has to be worth it to you, or you will not want to do this so set your prices to be fair but profitable for you. I know you are just starting so keep me in mind in the future when you have a slow time - I am interested when convenient for you.
I think 57.5k is just a little high, based solely on the fact that my signature was 60k. However, I'm not the one making it, and I have the option to not pay for one. So, this being said, when you have the prices 100% figured out, I will definitely come and talk to you about ordering an avatar.
Thanks. I have been discouraged about the shop with the votes saying the price is too high - but it really is a [mostly] decent price if I want to make it worth my time. I just want to be able to provide art to the people who started asking after I did Andrew's; but I have to make it worthwhile for me, too. 57.5k for max end of the templates, or for minimum end of the customs? o: I have considered the fact that Anny's signatures are 60k; I've did some calculations with the time we each spend on things (moreso her doing signatures and me doing templates, not the time-consuming customs) and it balances out. She spends a couple-few hours doing the posing, shading, highlighting, and whole design aspect; just as I'm putting in about the same amount of time doing my sketches, lines, shading, highlighting, and drawing (or, well, designing). In the end we both put about the same amount of effort (when I do templates), and our prices are similar; which is one thing I was trying to stick too, because I know she set a basic art price standard. I also put the current prices based around income that people make; an average-high of ~19k per hour farming time, and ~19k per hour of my drawing time. I chose average-high, though, because my art takes quite a bit more effort than farming does, and it is a "special" thing for one person; not the same thing for everyone. EDIT: This is unrelated to pricing: I have some extremely rough sketches for two of (maybe four) different poses to be used as templates. Second one looks... weird with really bad anatomy, but I'm going to go batsh*z crazy on it when I start linearting, lol. They'll have female versions, too. (Don't mind the random things like eyelashes, different ears, shirt collars, eyebrows... Those are reminders for me when I make the on/off options for the templates. xP)
EDIT: Something came up IRL. Going to push it to Saturday. Any last thoughts on pricing? There are two options when it comes to the shop and its opening... I didn't gauge my day plans well (for example, I had to go shopping with my mom for a couple hours yesterday, which I didn't know when I made this thread) or account for my HS homework. I can still open Thursday (tomorrow), I think, but I can also open on Saturday. I am not sure which is preferred/works best for people, though. 1) Open the shop on Thursday (tomorrow) and hopefully have decent templates up. Will only be Andrew's avatar as an example. Not sure on the price until I start it, but I'm guessing about $20 in GiftCards (because you mentioned elsewhere you'd be doing donation/USD). If you want to do ECD, probably 115k or so. May put you on the VIP list (last slot/least priority in the list, though) so I can do this as an example for non-human and non-Mojang style. I've only done one dinosaur before, and very few animals, so I don't have much for examples right now, lol. Accepted - VIP for practice and time estimates on animals/creatures. A template is a premade set of lines, shading, highlights, and one specific pose (there are some images up) with some clothing-relate options (round neck line, v-neck; rounded shoes, square shoes; etc). They can get some minor edits, like a candy cane in the mouth, a necklace, a belt, etc. Customs are like what I did for Andrew, and the concept of making a template different from Andrew's. It is a custom pose, custom clothes (such as your character having a hood), larger/more complex items (such as a shovel), option for Mojang style, my style, etc., ability to have an animal/other, and so on. Custom is literally me drawing from scratch and doing something personalized; templates are premade and edited based on application.
Estimated price is ~$20 in GiftCards or ~$120k; not sure if 60k is your max or just current (let me know). More realistic humans take longer; this price could go down a lot (read below). My style for humans can be seen on the links in my second post (unfortunately most are artist nudity from my Human Figure I course last Spring so they are marked as Adult... You'll have to message me on Skype or elsewhere), but I can do a more cartoony and/or chibi style, too; up to you. Realistic-like, cartoony, chibi... Maybe look through my galleries and choose a style I've done that you like? Accepted for Custom slot (assuming price is okay with you).
