Socialism is when the means of production are controlled by the people. This is the opposite. This is another (because there are already countless) market regulation which happens in real life literally everywhere that isn't a war-torn famine-stricken hell hole to live in. I mean like the very definition of the term is social ownership. You are mistaken as to what the term means. It's a bad idea because casinos are less interesting than other stuff we could be doing.
Well being that there is no longer any slot/casino plugin working with 1.9 this is not even possible anymore unless someone makes a new plugin.
You have the social principle right but not the economic principle. The economic principles of socialism state "the means of production are owned by public enterprises or cooperatives (the state)." What you're referring to is the position in which the system works FOR the common people but is not owned by them. This is unlike capitalism in which the means of production are privatized, which is what you are referring to. Socialism is the grey area between Capitalism, in which all trades and services are privatized, and Communism, in which no trades or services are privatized.

Can we get this back on topic. This is a suggestion about a server-run casino, not people yelling about socialism.
Eh, this would make sure the casino is 100% legit.. But would take a lot of people's main source of income. Would also make a lot of casinos previously built worthless. Having user ran casinos banned in a whole is kind of crazy considering we have had the system that's in effect now for years and we haven't had any major flaws. Also considering their are no casino plugins for 1.9 yet (to my knowledge) I will have to say -1.. Why fix something that doesn't need to be fixed? I'm on the fence so if anyone wants to give me a good counter I'll probably change my mind.
I don't think this would be good for ecc as these type of plug-ins are really prone to causing a lot of server lag. We all know everyone hates any sort of lag here. haha.
