Not at all, you just gotta go in the wild to earn some dollars for a plot in a nice town and mind your own business. Then use the public farm in that town/continue mining in the wild to gain resident rank. The only thing I noticed is that people often try to scam your goods for a way too cheap price or sell you stuff way overpriced. I fell for this once and then someone pointed me on this, I then started paying more attention to the real value and it hasn't happened since. It's a good lesson not to trust anyone.

 

I as a president treat them as I would any other rank. It is just when one griefs my town that I get mad. About money, yea they have it harder than most ranks, but 15k is not a lot. A little bump in farming prices would fix most builder problems I belive.

 

I have noticed builders getting mistreated a lot. I was talking to someone that was not going to let builders live in there town.

Exploited?: absolutely. especially newer players to minecraft in general (not just new to ecc.)

I never bought a plot when I joined the server. I just do my own thing because I reap the rewards.

Perhaps it would be beneficial for builders if upon first connect, they are removed from all chat channels by default. This would lead to more players seeing the in-game help/commands and information that are displayed at the top of chat. (these disappear quickly and are of no benefit to builders, essentially, because of chat flooding.)

 

It's called a realistic economy I <3 using builders.

 

Guys, I got to res in 4 days. Builders, you make money if you want to. Most of you just beg. Farm it up, get da bucks!

I honestly think it depends on how builders in general rub off on certain people. I see some builders beg and ask repeated times for things and sometimes that will get people angry. Usually those poeple end up mistreating builders but, when in some cases a builder shows that there willing to work more then is needed and will do any job they will get alot of money or get liked enough for someone to give them money to res. So honestly give each builder itself a chance. If one makes you angry then just ignore that builder.

 

In 3 days of playing ~20hrs. I have made 35k (8k lost in Lotto,4k lost from scammer, 15k from buying Res. and 8k in my pocket). People prefer Res+ for everything since they have been on the server for some time. Mayors+ want Res+ in their City because they actually worked for that 15k rank.

I tend to treat builders nicer though I do think they have a harder time earning money do to lack of experience though as a builder i made quite a bit

 

We need builders. Who else could do the manual labor for minimum wage.

I've only had resident status since this morning, but I want to put my two cents in here.

I was a builder for 3 days, I never got mistreated because of my rank. I was always polite, I never begged for anything, I tried to find answers to my questions before even thinking about asking over chat. Basically, I didn't do any of the things that people dislike builders for.

The majority of the time, builders don't get mistreated due to their rank. People lose their patience with them because of their actions. I haven't had one person disrespect me in any way since I've joined this server, and nobody has treated me any differently since I achieved residency (other than a few congratulations by people who were already nice to me beforehand).

 

As a builder, everyone assumed things (he don't know how to get resident, he don't know how to lock doors, he don't know, he don't know. ect ect ect).
I caught on very quickly when it came to prices.

But yes, most people assumed i didn't know how to do anything, it was rather maddening.
I also notice, people just don't trust other people unless they're resident. I see lots of people in trade going "Residents only" in some job offers.
It makes sense not to trust builders all the much, but you have to face the truth. ANYONE could grief your town, builder, resident, mayor, tycoon, or even ecocityleader.

Yes, it's a lot more likely some random builder will cause problems, but you can't trust someone based on that sparkly title by their name.

You can't really make people trust other people.
I never built a house in the wild, i mined, and when i got too much cobblestone, i sold it off.
I coughed up 1k and got myself a house in a town.
The mayor(kevindynamite) in my town actually offered me co-mayor position when i become resident, and promptly handed over 4.5k to fill the gap.

So, not everyone is bad, but i can say that some people take advantage of builders lack of knowledge and experence.

 

At the beginning there should be instruction upon going to the tutorial or wiki. I like this idea, and maybe everyone should not listen to /ch global, /ch trade, /ch auction upon never connecting to them in the first place.

 

another idea that could used is having a help channel that builders are automatically put in so those looking for help have somewhere to ask and those willing to offer help can do so

 

Or... maybe this channel will just spam hints every few minutes and/or have an ai bot answer simple questions. Players would stay in this channel as long as necessary and eventually leave on their volition. Stupid questions/spam by noobs or otherwise could be referred to "ask the server bot."
