Lava damage in nether

Brief Description:
Not taking lava damage. I do not have pryo+

Instructions:
1. Mine in nether
2. Jump in lava (I was not even close to spawn I could still break blocks)
3. Take damage

Not getting hurt

Expected Result:
Taking fire damage.
