Minecraft Name: Jacob43365 Suggestion: Bring back private chat channels that we used to have Reason: They were fun and useful for nations, clans, ect without having to use mcmmo parties. Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: We used to have it
I remember these were really fun, trivia chat used to be a town chat channel, I'm not sure why they were removed but I'm sure there was a good reason so it's a -1 from me.
Just because they were removed for a good reason doesn't mean they shouldn't be added back as long as they don't lag too much.
The problem is that every server has to have these channels created to make it work. So, as you get more servers, creating new channels becomes an increasingly large pain in the arse.
What about people who don't just play on the main server? What reason would they have to purchase a channel they can't actually use all the time?
Then buy it on said other server? They would purchase the channel because it's fun, not because it replaces Global or anything.
They were removed a year ago roughly. If that's the reason I think they were removed a bit early... Considering the lobby is the only thing 100% complete atm.
I personally would like to see these return. I remember hoping I could get one for my towns and then when I came back from a period of inactivity they were gone and I was very much disappointed. Personally I hate party chat b/c switching channels doesn't remove you from it so if you forget you're in it you get stuck messaging in party instead of the channel you meant to. it was a convenient thing for neighboring towns to use. And as far as the multiple servers I agree it should be kept separate on each server. +1
Before the change, there were 18 pages of chat channels; don't think they were capped out. I distinctly recall getting my chat channel refunded because of something to do with the hub. As for the suggestion: if you bring it back, make it 100k-150k per channel, but accessible cross-servers. That way, you don't have a ton of chat channels and the high price tag will provide some incentive for users to make use of the channel rather than letting it run inactive.
I dont ever recall using these, they do sound fun tho. -1 if it interferes with hub progress +1 if it has no effect on hub progress
Wonder if its possible for Jammie or someone to have /p automatically turned off when u join another channel? Thats the only annoying thing about party chat imo. I always forget to leave /p when going to another channel
Bump, and yes there was like 18 pages, but that was because of YEARS of chat channels and most were inactive. If we started them again now and then maybe did a cleanup of them every 2 years that would work.
I (think) I remember that Town Chat channels were removed because they a) hogged a lot of memory and b) as is they didn't work within the Hub concept. I would ALSO love to have a private chat, useable anywhere in the existing Server (not into the other upcoming servers accessed through the Hub), that Nation Presidents could buy. Maybe make it so you had to have 3 or more towns before being eligible? It worked so well for Lancaster "back in the day" and pretty much killed the community once Town Chat was removed. Town members were allowed to be off doing something in Mining, or Nether, or PvP (I think), or Spawn and still communicate easily with everyone that belonged to the Nation. tool repairs, questions, rentals, shopping, and general camaraderie were all easier with the Town Chat. Sadness when it left
This sounds a bit like: A: I suggest <very good suggestion> B: But this is not implemented as of now, so there must be a good reason against it, -1 Which misses completely the point of suggestions (i.e: ideas of how something could be changed). Of course <very good suggestion> is not implemented as of now, that's the very reason why I'm suggesting it in the first place. TL;DR: I would have given a -1 only after hearing said good reasons, but as I don't see any, +1
