I am banned for "major grief in the town of Headquarters" as a result of this grief report​

Clause 1 - Griefing

  • Grief is defined as breaking or destroying things that do not belong to you, including breaking and replacing things to get to places that otherwise you shouldn't be going (for example, breaking into someone's house.) This can also extend to building things in areas that do not belong to you.
    • Grief is not allowed in protected towns, unless the town owner has decided otherwise. In the event a grief occurs in a non-grief town then a grief report can be filed here: Grief Report and Rollback Request
      • If a town allows grief then all residents must be informed before joining the town.
  • When a grief report is filed, grief is graded on a sliding scale of minor/moderate/major based on the amount and severity of damage done, and is determined based on staff guidelines by the staff member investigating the situation. It is also determined at that time whether the grief is bad enough to warrant a rollback.
  • Grief in the wild is frowned upon, but allowed. Staff will not take any action in the case of wild grief.

Reason you feel you think you should be un-banned:

First off, I apologize to both @stoler202 and @blairy05 , this was a childish act and I am ashamed to have done it.

After nearly 5 years of never being banned, I had a huge error in judgement and decided that I wanted some fast and easy money. I am very ashamed to have blown my perfect record on this server over such a big lapse in judgement and for such a silly reason.

To better understand how this event that led to my ban transpired, here is my full account of what happened.

About a week ago, I lost my last 100k in lotto after buying tons of things. Now, although 100k in gambling has never been that big of a loss for me, for some reason it led me to making this huge irreversible mistake. I wanted to make some quick money so I could sportsbook on the following day, but everything I thought of sounded so boring and I didn't have that much time. Looking back, I should've obviously simply logged off, sold some of my belongs, or even taken a loan if I wanted to gamble so bad. Instead however, I made the biggest mistake in my time on ECC, and I decided I was going to get some money fast with no regard for the rules, not by scamming, but by calculated grieving and looting. I began looking through /rg list at all the towns I had ever been added to. I traveled to many inactive towns, but there was never more than a few unlocked chests scattered around in houses. Admittedly, I would break a few blocks here and there such as stone to get into these houses and look around but I would replace them right back behind me.

Eventually however, I stumbled across the town of Headquarters. Now like most towns I had been to, I had no clue how I was added to them or why, however as I briefly flew around this town I saw an apartment complex thing of sorts, and through the windows on one of the upper floors I saw 4 big chairs of sort made of completely diamond blocks. When I got up to that floor after looting some of the unlocked chests on the lower floors I found myself next to the diamond blocks. I made sure no one was around and checked the /rg i and the members of the town. Everyone was inactive including stoler who at the time I believe was offline for about a week, so I decided to take the risk and take all the diamond blocks, including the 4 chests of plain armor that were embedded in the diamond chairs. I knew exactly what I was doing and how I could and would be punished if caught, but I thought that with everyone being pretty inactive the odds of someone noticing this grief in the upper floor of an apartment inside someones room within the 1 week logblock range was low and I could get away with it. It was an extreme lapse of judgement and complete disregard for the rules.

As for why I believe I should be unbanned, I want to make things as right as I can. Obviously after doing something like this I will inevitably lose tons of my credibility, as I deserve. However I love this server and I want to return. I have never been banned before which I believe shows a level of commitment and that I truthfully made a mistake. I made a major error in judgement and I promise to never do anything to get banned again. I wish to rebuild my trust and character that I have built over nearly the last 5 years on this server. Despite the rollback that is pending, upon my return I will be working to get 25k to give to @stoler202 to show the sincerity in my apology.

Once again, I am sorry for my actions and to all that they effected. Thank you in advance to the mods who may read and respond to this (long) appeal, and I hope that you will unban me.​
