Im so inactive I wouldn't really consider myself part of the community anymore, but anyway thats besides the point.

Might just be me, but sounds like a pretty inappropriate response to something you had no context on. Especially since the community trusted you with the position to be a moderator. Even so, just as a player, I don't see you as very innocent. Your immediate response was so vague and basic which shows you were probably in a similar situation previously. What you did was more immoral than breaking the rule in this context. You may not have been the criminal, but you were a bystander who knew what was happening. Could you have uh... stopped it? I mean, thats what mods do - enforce the rules. You know, the job that the community trusted you with. And is part of your excuse seriously "I didn't know who the resident was"? Dumbest reasoning I have read in a long time.
Onwards, ill paraphrase it, something like "thats what you get for messing with VOECC". Do you have any common sense? What you said is documented, and quite frankly I don't care if you were bribed into saying it. Were you bribed into letting someone get scammed too? Context might matter, but you still said it. If I take money to be an asshole, I'm not automatically exempt from the stupid stuff I did.
Anyway, as a moderator, is witnessing someone scamming an Eff 7 and doing nothing not breaking the rules? Because under that logic, any staff member could just freeload off their rank and blame their inaction because "its not a rule saying they have to". I think its a common sense rule that staff follow. And because you were staff at the time this occurred, you should be held accountable.

You also claim that you didn't know about burning the eff 7. Maybe so, but you still knew about the signs. One of them being "sticks and stones may break our bones, but words makes VOE steal loans" or something like that.

That didn't trigger anything? really? An organization you are part of is going to scam many people?
EDIT: I'll count that as a lie. Must we actually keep track of lying in a ban appeal? seems a bit ridiculous to me.

So here is my main point. I won't sugarcoat it.
I saw many people's reactions today, and they weren't very happy. What you did directly hurt people of this community. Given that you had the power to take action, but instead decided to ignore it and say "rip eff 7" and brush it off is ethically unacceptable, especially with your claim that you are so innocent. You cannot simply say its obble's fault, because its not all his fault. Your inaction caused many people to lose hard earned money and it hurt a lot of people. You could have helped prevent further damage. Yet all I see in your appeal is some explanation on your behalf and sympathy for yourself. I don't see an apology for your part in this anywhere. And here is the deal. No, its not in the rulebook that you gotta apologize for your mistakes, but the people who your organization scammed deserve an apology. And you better mean that apology. Rules are held to protect the community. But there are basic morals that you should abide by as well, because they also protect the community.
And listen, I have done stupid things in the past too. I apologized and learned from my mistakes like most people do. I didn't go out asking for people to feel sorry for me, because I knew what I did impacted a lot of people negatively. So just make a true apology, learn from your mistakes, and move on. Trying to explain yourself innocent might get you unbanned, but it won't give you respect.

I knew you when I was active, and did have respect for you. However after seeing your reaction to the situation, you no longer have that respect from me

Anyways I believe my argument is more of an ethical and common sensual one. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Honestly, I don't want to see you back anywhere near the server until you tell the full truth. :/

 

I just want to add in that sometimes it can be hard as a 'bystander'. You do not, always, realise what the other person is doing before it is too late and you're in a hot sticky mess. It also can be hard to tell someone/do something about the situation. Flip the situation and put yourself in Fury's shoes. If you had a really good friend who you know to joke around, would you suspect they would do something as terrible as what Obble has done? Granted the signs were maybe a clue, especially the 'VoE steals loans' one, but by that time it was probably too late.

 

May I have the privilege to respond.

That's completely beside the point. Is it really that taboo to think "Oh, someone stole an Eff 7? As a moderator, and member of the community, maybe I should report that". Was that truly an appropriate response to such a wild claim? Shows how serious you took your job I guess.

I can quote it again if you want.

You cannot in the right mind tell everyone that a sign with "sticks and stones may break my bones but words make VOE steal loans" was not a sign of something bad happening. Sure, say you guys like to joke a lot. Thats utter BS. You knew about the signs, so you must have known about that. You lied about something that was so open to the community, it is in your appeal. So yeah, you did lie. Own up to it.

Sure looks like it. As for what the signs tell us, that is a false claim.

Keep talking the talk, you aren't walking the walk. You do not have any evidence to back that statement up. However, we have evidence suggesting that you knew the situation (The sign which said VOE scams/eff 7) and we also saw what you did in return: Nothing. I don't trust your word to tell me that you would. I will take the evidence instead, thanks.

I think you are missing my point here. I don't give a damn if you stay banned. My argument isn't about helping you get unbanned, I'm pointing things out. all I see is you trying to make the community feel sympathy towards you while you blabber about how you couldn't do anything. Meanwhile, people are stressing out about how they lost millions of dollars. Yet you don't apologize for a single thing in your appeal. Stop being narcissistic and start to feel sympathy for those affected. Thats what my argument is about.

Let me just add this real quick. All I am and have been asking from you is an apology to the community, not to explain yourself through. Let me blow your mind by giving you an example of what that looks like, shall I?

"I am sorry for making mistakes that hurt this community. I have thought about what I have done and I deeply regret not taking action. I have learned from this experience and understand what I have done."

Then add in some extra stuff. Not too hard, I think.

So fury, I can keep retaliating to your claims, and you can retaliate to mine, but where is that going to lead us? Although I am on break, I sure don't want to spend it trying to make my point. So theres my point right there. Either take my advice or don't, I don't care. All I am saying is that this community needs an apology, which I hope you would recognize. And mean it.

You disgust me you were given a nice privilage of becoming staff and then you go and do this you knew what he was going to do so why didnt you stop him from burning the eff7 tell another member of staff hmm? You are as guilty as anyone you dont deserve to ever come back on this server.
