Baby zombies have been glitching for at least many months. Myself and others who mob-grind have found baby zombies and husks so disappointing that they are now not included into out setups. The best way I can explain this glitch is as follows: 1. A baby zombie/husk stacks with a group of its fellow mob type 2. User repeatedly fires shots from crossbow into stack of husk/zombie (may it be noted that trials with melee type weapons did not have this effect what soever on the mobs) 3. When baby husk/zombie comes up in stack and when it is shot and killed, the influence of the water used to push the stacked mobs towards the player causes the zombie/husk stack to glitch out of the half slab barrier and into the wall, trapdoor, half-slab etc. 4. the now full sized mob after the baby is suffocated in the wall/item that it was pushed into and will either die or when bumped by a player or other mob can either go right through the wall/item that it was inside of or go back to the area that it was supposed to be on. 5. The newfound nuisance and glitch of baby zombies and husks is now apparent To dive deeper: When a husk/zombie stack is shot by a player repeatedly the mobs obviously die and the stack gradually decreases. When a baby comes up in the stack and then quickly shot by a projectile a combination of unlikely events occur. 1. The mob is shot 2. in the time that the next mob in the stack spawns the baby mob has had enough time to glitch the whole entire stack of mobs into an unwanted place. 1. The water used to direct mobs into the kill-den pushes the newly spawned mob from the stack towards the wall and makes it glitch (for lack of better word) into it or surrounding objects. (Something to be noted that this did not just happen in the kill-den but also happened elsewhere around setups) 2. The act of the baby zombie/husk transitioning into the full sized mob next into the stack is what prompts glitch to occur. 3.The full sized mob that followed the baby mob in the stack is suffocated the wall/item and takes damage as suffocating in vanilla Minecraft usually does. 4. A player or fellow mob can come into physical contact with "stuck" mob and either push it through the wall it was stuck in making it simply move through the wall into the unwanted area or push it back into the water flow that it was supposed to be in. Unfortunately it is usually the first. It is important to note that it only glitches into a wall/item/trapdoor when there is room for it to "fit" such as a half slab or a trapdoor or an item not filing a whole block such as a lantern or pot. Two months ago I had a whole setup devoted to testing these types of mobs in preparation for the completing of this bug report so I along with others have witnessed this event occur multiple times and if the screenshots I provide are not enough or more information is wanted I will be more than happy to provide. One thing I can speculate upon is that because crossbows shoot so very quickly the mob stack does not have enough time to register that it (the full sized mob opposed to the baby mob) is not in a space that will fit it. I have other speculations that I can say if wanted by moderators/developers but as my opinion is not professional I do not see the need in speculating further. I have devoted lots of time to not only write this bug report but to also run tests in game and ask moderators and SA's such as @ClarinetPhoenix to tp to me and see if for theirselves proving that I really do think this is a change-worthy glitch. Screenshots: Husk glitched into wall and dying from suffocation. More screenshots coming as Computer had a meltdown. Those are just a few of the ways/blocks that I have seen Zombies/Husks glitch to due to the baby zombie issue. Sorry this has been long.
Husk stuck in Ceiling/wall @bobman3355 @HighLuna @ClarinetPhoenix @Schloty @oxwood2 @Ginger543 @SSolaire Your opinion would be greatly appreciated!! And any others that I have forgotten.
Zombies and husks have been doing this for a long time, I assumed it was a minecraft thing, but it could be because of stacked mobs I suppose.
https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/all-main-servers-suggestion-disable-baby-zombies.207238/ After this, the babies don't stack with the adult zombies anymore, but indeed the first baby to spawn seems an issue. Tho I think Andrew is already aware of this bug. If you want something to change, you'd better fill a suggestion
I can confirm that this babies are still stacking with adult mobs like normal. This is a bug report and not a suggestion as I am bringing this topic back onto the table as it is still a problem. If it is determined that a suggestion should be made after this bug report has been reviewed I would full heartedly make a suggestion promptly. In the testing facility that I devoted lots of my time to two months ago I would personally analyze the size of the mob in the stack before they were shot to regulate the size of the mob that was being shot and what caused it.
Baby zombies no longer stack with regular zombies. This is as much as we can do for this bug. We've long abandoned investigating this any further. Best bet is to wait for Minecraft 1.17 and see if Mojang fixes things up with these mobs as it's definitely a vanilla problem.
On another note, perhaps we can simply prevent zombie spawners from spawning baby zombies? If this is something you guys would like please file a suggestion.
