Forgive me for butting in but I've seen this before. chewychunga was one of the first that I saw to bring it up in discussion about a year ago. The problem that I see with raising the price is that others will simply undercut you and gain business. Especially if they have tp and back. It's a bit of an inherent downside to that feature.
I would find more people to give free erepairs because face it, your never going to stop every EXTComm+ donator to give free repairs. k.
Everyone should agree on a price and stick to it.. I say around like 400-500 cause its a $100 donation not like a 15
I don't have ExtCommands+, but I would still like people to charge $200 (I think it's a fair price.) They spent $100USd or 500k-600k ECD on it; they deserve to charge a measly $200 for a "brand-new tool".
the problem most people dont understand is undercutting actually hurts everyone in the long run by reducing profits to nothing people see it as a quick way to get ahead now but dont think of the future I sell for 500 you sell for 450 so I then try and sell for 400 and ect.. soon were both not making any money
tom its what ive charged since the day I got it over a year ago and I wont drop any of my prices cause people undercut.. I would rather get less business and spend time doing other things than undercut make less money and drive prices down
whenever i cant get a repair from weirdbuilder, and i have to buy them, i buy them for 300-400 because thats how much they should be. Pro Tip: If you actually pay for your repairs you'll get more people offering to repair them! doubt me? Go into trade chat ask for a free repair, see how many you get. Then ask for a repair offering 300-400 per tool. Tell me which one gets you more offers.
I used to charge $500 when I gave repairs to others. I don't repair for anyone other than my friends nowadays because it simply isn't worth my time.
This maybe different story.. But I just want to talk it here.. If you are hardcore miner or farmer who always spend times to earn money, key thing that you have to always consider, when you are doing this erepair business, is that you must calculate the time and profit, and ask your self, "Is it worth stopping what I am currently doing, and spend time on sending tp and when tp gets accepted, wait for customers to throw their tools, and wait for them to pay, and then repair it, throw back?" "Is total time cost for the whole process worth the money comparing to the way I am currently making money steadily?" ("making money steadily" means melon farming or mining with eff7pick) and these are the question that you have to think.. not just about how much USD that feature cost to get.. I personally charge it like below.. 1 tool = $200 2 tools = $300 3 tools = $400 4 ~ 9 tools = $500 10 or more = $600 Key thing here is that.. By my calculation when melonblock price was $1.85(before nerf to $1.65), It took me 45 seconds to earn $200 by melon farming with melon sword, which means atleast all the process of selling erepair should be done in less than total 45 seconds, or it can be minus profit.. That is why I always get pissed off by draggy customers.. Player who is wasting my time in unnecessary ways, like.. 1. Player who is not throwing their tool right away way after tp got accepted, just by newbie reason that "I can't see you" which is typical tp lag issue that happens almost everytime that experienced player won't care.. 2. Player who is saying "follow me" and go to certain place's chest, and not preparing the tools on his hand or inventory to throw right away, which is another case that's wasting erepair seller's time in unnecessary way.. 3. Player who is accepting multiple tp requests from erepair sellers, multiple times.. And trying to compare the price which is very rude thing in ecc culture, because it's simply wasting erepair seller's time who ever is not chosen.. 4. Player who is begging for discount and saying "I don't have that much money right now." things which is typical way that those people usually say for discount.. This is the main reason that I don't throw back first, or even not repairing it, before I clearly see the money that's been sent to me first. These are the usual cases when players who are being draggy and wasting too much unnecessary time when they are buying erepair.. Which I hate the most.. If buyers are not being draggy and not wasting my time too much and be quick as possible getting everything done in less than 5~10 seconds, I have no problem with setting up my price to minimum $200, because it's still a better profit than the way I usually earn money.. Customers really need to learn how to be "QUICK".. I personally think time from how customer acts are much more important, and if they take erepair seller's time too much, they need to pay extra. I think that's more reasonable..
Charging 200 per tool when all you have to do is type a simple command in is ridiculous. If it was something more reasonable like 50 each it would be more acceptable and you would find alot more business, but at 200 it's worth the time to just find someone who would do it for free. Yes ExtCom+ is expensive, but just for the personal use it is worth it. Why? Assuming you are buying ereps from someone that is charging 200 (or even your absurd 250-500) that is large % lost of income on something like farming. So by buying ExtCom+ you are getting all those costs removed, and all the time finding an erepper removed too. TL;DR If your buying ExtCommands+ for the profit, your doing it wrong.
I guess u were probably happy to lose me as a customer back in the early days lol. Now I have repair for myself I make a point of not treating people the way I was treated. A few bucks is neither here nor there, having some manners is more to the point.
its not the simple command that's the work.. its the time take out of doing things and making money other ways to help allow people to keep working... just imagine if no one donated for it then you would have to make a new tool like daily.. the entire economy would change based on the donation
Even though we just run a simple command, it's the amount of money that we spent that makes repairs expensive. The $100 didn't come from nothing. It was either through somebody taking the time to get 600k or earn $100 USD. Neither process is easy. Anyway, I normally charge 200-300 per tool. I honestly feel $250 is good price and around $750+ for anvils.
what i dont understand is why everyone is making a big deal of it, whats wrong with being generous, and people usually tip when getting e-reps for free, and extcommands+ has other features, you get 1 anvil/day you can sell those, or you can do anvil combo's for people and charge them for it, you act like the only way to make a quick buck is e-reps, i will not start charging again for e-reps, it makes me feel better and it helps out people who dont have it. yes i spent 100USD for it, but that doesnt mean i should try and get back every penny in ECD ... if i wanted the 600kECD i would have sold 100USD in donations for someone else... so why should i try and get everything back? i sell my anvils everyday and thats my way of making my money back not being money hungry and charge out the nose for e-reps... so yes i will be one of the "people that ruin it" because im not worried about making my money back in ECD because i use my e-reps and anvils correctly
Typically I pay $200/tool, sometimes a little more. Honestly if e-repairs were $500/tool I would give up on repairs all together. I make about $800 off pumpkins before I need to have my ax repaired. What is the point in giving you more than half of what I made just to keep harvesting? I'm not saying everyone should give them away for free, I respect that you have the commands and you want a little compensation. I'm just saying if its too over-priced i would rather make a ton of tools out of my stockpile and keep all of the money I made, even if it takes longer. Even then, it would probably equal out to roughly what I saved from not buying your service.
Jericho you only make 809 before your axe need to be fix? You using unbreak 3?? Or like a iron axe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
