This would make the wild bare of trees, as if this wasn't a problem already. I know people can make farms, but nobody will make a farm if they can make just as much without one.
If it's on par with pumpkins/melons, then the same thing will happen that happened with pumpkins; Everyone will go to tree farming, and abandon everything else. Next thing you know, we get a bunch of builders saying "OMG where are all the TREES?!?!?"...
It would be too easy. It doesn't cost money to set up, you go the wild, and BAM! Trees. If things go how I think they would, then our world would have no trees in no time.
And no, people just going around replanting wouldn't help. Builders would still just cut them down and not replant. In fact, that brings another point. All other farmers would be upset, because some random builder can make as much money as them from something they can do off the bat with no preparing or paying large sums of money... Those farmers worked hard, they don't want to see a builder can make as much money with less effort.
Apple prices could go up a bit, but please don't make it on par with pumpkins/melons/any other method. I can tell it wouldn't end well.Click to expand...
Because running around in the wild harvesting trees vs creating a controlled tree farm is smart, right?
This isn't an issue. For someone to realize the profits in this business, they would create a time-efficient tree farm.
Not to mention, we have a /kit starter. Which gives them logs/sticks/coal.Click to expand...
And also, what does the starter kit have to do with this? lol

builders and residents would go around cutting as many trees down as possible to make an easy cash flow. Residents do not always have the option to make a time efficient farm, being that they do not own a town most of the time.Click to expand...Click to expand...Click to expand...Click to expand...Click to expand...Click to expand...

You're still not going to make a living off of cutting trees, can you guys see what i'm getting at? 2$ to hit a pumpkin, with an axe, which takes 1 second. Now, here we have a 1/200 chance of getting an apple from a tree, which grow about 10-20 leaves. Now, that means that every tree will yield a 1% chance of dropping an apple. (If the tree has 20 leaves)
Cmon now, can someone really make a living/profit off of harvesting trees? I would like to see more initiative, since we do have mcmmo, to have people do woodcutting as another revenue. With the addition of apples, there is more and more incentive to get into this business. Point is, I'd like to see more options to make money.
I would like 'all of you' to stop redirecting the points I am making. So what if we have easier access to diamond tools and we have mcmmo, why don't we look at it in another way? Right now, apple farming/woodcutting isn't even CLOSE to mining/farming, I'd like to see this get a price bump, to add another way to earn money on the server. It would provide a new incentive to train woodcutting skill, and encourage tree farms, which I haven't seen many of on the server.
Why don't we have a more diverse economy? Its not just about people destroy trees, we ALREADY DO THAT. -

Think of it this way. Someone spends 100k+ on their pumpkin farm, to protect it, materials, possibly paying people to build it for him, and some random builder guy just goes to the wild with a diamond axe and makes as much money. Answer me this, is this fair, and why is it fair? Then we'll talk. -

And secondly, I know first hand the cost of a pumpkin farm and its benefits. However, can everyone do this? No, not everyone has the ability to create the most money out of these farms, and doesn't have the money base to do so nor the time/effort. Reward people who play often, and people who play even half my time can still make some decent money tree farming and have fun doing it. The reason why I don't pumpkin farm 24/7 is because it is boring, why don't we allow tree farming to make at least 50-75% profit compared to pumpkins? Right now a half % chance of an apple dropping is way to low for it to be priced @ 2$.

Just because there is a 1/200 chance of dropping a Red Apple, that is not the guaranteed result. While you can receive NO apples from a tree, i have seen ten apples drop from ONE normal tree before. In my opinion, Raise the price a bit, but not alot. Perhaps 3-5 Dollars/piece.

Anyway, everyone knows that woodcutting levels up slower than most other methods, so why not have Andrew just make it easier to level? Raising the price of apples isn't the only way, and everyone can agree with making woodcutting easier, or at least more people can.
And if people want to make money on the spot, they can go mining, or rent out a farm, or do jobs, or get a loan, there doesn't need to be a farming way to do it, if it causes issues, it's better that it doesn't happen. Since we have other ways to make money quickly without taking time to, for example, set up a farm. -
I agree the price on plain apples should be increased, cutting wood is currently an awful way to make money and I have cut down alot of trees here so far, very small rewards. Also some people tend to forget for new people like myself, our wood cutting skill is low and slow to rise, it takes me alot more time to cut down ten trees then 3 minutes if I am hacking at leaves. Also new to newish players are not getting diamond tools or diamond anything. I use stone tools. If you do some mining and want to splurge, make some iron tools. Currently though you would make triple the money simply selling the iron used to make an axe as you would from the wood and precious few apples that drop.
I would suggest making the value of an apple between 5 and 10 dollars at least, even then cutting trees is not going to make anyone rich, but you might at least make enough to get you on your feet a small amount as new to somewhat new player.
