Tagging them and complaining does no good. If Andrew feels that the current host isn't getting the job done he will change it.

No disrespect at all here, I would just suck it up for the time being. It isn's as easy as 1 2 3 to change hosts.

I agree. The server should look for a new host since this one is pretty terrible.
alpert If people don't bring attention to the issue how will they know that it is pretty widespread and a concern of the community? Its good for the community in my opinion.

Andrew knows when the server crashes. Staff tell him instantly and he can also look at the logs and clearly see the dropped connection and the lack of activity.

 

To be honest our host served us well for a long time. There is no need for a new one. Yes there are crashes right now however its not always a hosts fault. 1.7 brought a lot of changes, especially in network of MC and how the Servers run, this makes it harder for clients to connect at time, which can cause issues. Disconnecting doesnt always mean that it is the host either. It may be your connection, in which case I suggest resetting the router. (This is an issue I have very often).

 

That's not what we are concerned about though. A crash should be expected once in a while but what I am talking about and what I assume kat is talking about is the mini crash kicks that the host does all the time to certain people. It affects a noticeable minority while others never get a crash/kick. You sound lucky enough not to get these, but trust me as someone affected who sees the pattern in how good the connection is I can say for myself it is not my connection doing this. Something is wrong with this host somewhere along the line and it is really annoying to try to play when it gets bad.

I should make a video one of these days. When ever I get the chance to go on earlier than I usually get on the host is terrible where I live. You play for 5 minutes, its all laggy, then bam you get kicked with a message saying the connection was forced close by host because it thinks you are idle when you aren't. It goes on terrible like this everyday during the same hours and later in the day it gets better and goes away completely. I never change my network setup or reset my router or modem and I see the same pattern everyday. Some people get this, others don't. It's not a crash but instead some weird issue with the host during those hours. This host is not good enough to run a solid 24/7 server because of these issues. I would like to see ECC search for a host that provides stable connection to all players no matter the time.

Yes because ALL of the people who were complaining don't know how to set up a home network. Trust me I know what I am doing when it comes to computers. It's NOT my connection. If it was my connection then other servers that I play on would have the same thing or similar but its only ECC that does this. Plus if it was my network that was configured wrong how would it get better everyday later in the day without me touching anything?

 

When you crash what sort of error do you get?

 

Computer systems should be super redundant and only go down for 5 minutes or less per year. Instead of the uptime of:
98.21%
We should have
Five 9's 99.999%
meaning we lose almost a week of uptime per year

Not sure if it's a software or hardware problem, but regardless, hosts should try to get the 5 9's.

 

I get the "IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host " error. The host thinks my connection is idle and is closing it. After no changes this stops after a while surprisingly when its peak time. So 80 people on you get 10 people complaining about the connection but 250 and everything is silky smooth. I am most definitely not the only one who has this problem. Most don't say anything unless one person brings it up since there is the perception that it is something wrong with our computers, usually perpetuated by someone who does not know the situation.

 

I had this error and was fixed shortly after updating my bandwidth on my internet.

 

I agree but a good amount of time is added when they reset the server everyday to what I assume is avoid problems and do some maintenance. Kind of like the newer routers can be set to restart automatically so that an issue can usually only last until you reset it or it does it itself.

My bandwidth is fine. I get 10 Mbs download and around 1 Mb upload. I in addition to this game play BF 3 & 4, used to play planetside 2, killing floor, etc, and I never have bandwidth problems during even 64 player BF4 on high/ultra settings. After playing on this server long enough I realized that no matter what state my comp/network is in the host follows the same pattern of under performance.

 

I get this error often. It is only within the past few weeks. Just about everytime I get it, it isn't just me. I will log back in and see chat asking "did anyone just get kicked?" I would think if it was my internet, it wouldn't affect people from around the world. Unless you guys are all stealing my internet? :eek: That's what causing it!.. Stop taking my interwebs access. :mad:

No: Look at @EcoCityCraft twitter. Within the past four days there has been tweets by both Staminus and Intreppid regarding maintenence. Staminus is our DDoS protection and we have some of the best DDoS protection that there is to offer. We also mainly use Intreppid, which if i am correct is correlated to Staminus. I think that these problems, even though annoying, will go away on their own. You cannot just switch over all your hosting because of recent maintenance. I have expected this because they have both tweeted within the weekend regarding the maintenance.
