well if you want the app to look like (the forums layout etc) this you would not be able to make it due to copyright issues since this site is not actually made my ECC staff it was just edited just like Enjin. If you look at the bottom of the forums you will see this Forum software by XenForo™ ©2010-2013 XenForo Ltd. You will need their permission which i highly doubt you would get
Dej, i know but I dont need the permissions, if they just Hire a company that makes Pro apps, simple a that
XenForo own the forum software that run the site, ECC bought a licence to use that software. XenForo doesn't own the content on the site, so you could access that data and use in in an application. To hire a company to make the application could easily cost up to $5000, which is far too expensive. It would be much better to make a web application or mobile friendly website which would hide all the clutter, make it much easier to browse, quicker to load and best of all it would work across many platforms. Also, what model of iphone/ipod are you using? and what do you mean by laggy?, unresponsive? or slow to load? You many also want to try closing the app running in the background by double tapping the home button, pressing the app icon until a red minus symbol shows up and click that to close the app. You may already do this but often people don't and it slows the phone down as well as wasting battery life.
Yeah, i use my I-phone every time i go to look at the forums. I am using it right now. It has no lag at all.
Myminecrafter, i do this all the time, about the company, i checked Dutch Companies that make apps, its not expensive at all, What did you said about the XenForo thing? Didn't really understand that..
XenForo is the company that made the forum software which runs the forums, XenForo sells licences for people to use the software to run their forums. The stuff you post on the forums is owned by ECC. Just in the same way I type something up using Microsoft Word, I own the document but Microsoft owns the software which I have a licence to use on my computer. So you can use the information on the forum in different software, or application in this case. For example, swapping forum software or in a mobile version of the website. This is the same how you can view a document written using Word using a different rich text editor.
Sorry, this only seems to be a problem for you, my iPad works perfectly fine and you just probably have bad Internet connection
+1 it is a good idea, but it will cost a fortune. Tobuscus is making a game that costs $240,000 in development costs (already paid for) but is it a good idea to do that? a mobile web version is the way to go on this particular task.
I love the idea! I even have some features that it should have! Main Screen: *News selection *Forums " *Rules " *Voting " *Donations " *Members " *Shoutbox " *Help(for the app and the website) All of the above should be the same for the website, but just easier to use on the Iphone, Ipodtouch, android(etc). If possible, you guys could even make a secondary app just for the ECC Wiki! I hope these will give you an idea for the app, if you guys decide to make an app for ECC!
