It's probably theft. When people can get in but can't get the horse out, they just steal the armor.

 

Yeah, maybe you should take off the horse armor while also logging off on it. Though solace already beat me to the puchline XD

 

Happened to me to.Could it be a bug? There was a bug with saddles and leads but I don't know about armour.

Actually i had the same thing happen to me with 3 diamond armors....thennn some guy pm'ed me one night saying u need to lock your horses better so i /home stable to get there quickly to see what was going on and there he stood outside my stable in my town telling me that he can glitch onto my horse and take my armor etc...i checked my doors and looked at my windows nothing broke and doors locked.....stable should be secure...WRONG...he stood next to the wall closest to the horse and all of a sudden he warped thru the wall onto my horse....then he asked me to open the door so he could get out (he was now on foot off the horse so i thought nothing of it) when i opened the door a silverfish (a friend of this guy using discise) appeared out of nowhere lassoed 1 off my horses and off thru the air it went then i look around and there went my second horse thru the air by another user ..sooo i jumped on my 3 rd horse my last one and rode it out of the stable trying to save it and while i was on the horse i was pulled into the air so high that i jumped off and almost died....so i lost 3 horses 3 diamond armors right before my eyes...played out by a pack of 3 thieves working together to rob ppl of something they earned...my town my horses and was asked by a admin that i pmed did they kill u during the theft and i answered no but almost ..and the admin said if they didnt kill u theres nothing we can do..horse theft isnt illegal on ecc....this my friend is soooooo wrong i cant express how wrong it is they allow such crud on the server....i have the names of the individuals that did the thievery and will not post their names but i will say this....one of the ppl own a very popular and very nice stable near the spawn and the stable is full i mean full of horses...hmm wonder how that happen...sorry ecc i love your site but making horse thievery ok was a terrible decision and has decreased the horse value drastically ....think about it...u cant even ride your own horse in your own town without the fear of bandits swooping in like fighter jets from the sky taking your horse while u are on it....horses have no value now in my opinion because of this....oh by the way make your walls 2 blocks thick on your stable around all sides and roof...this helps prevent the glitch i guess....i never tried..i no longer own horses :-(

Bojangles it wasn't a decision to make horse stealing legal. They didn't have a choice its just not possible to lock or track a mob.

 

Is it possible to them to have unique names and then create a registry?

 

You can always change the nametag by adding a new one
