Remember that people buy donations from others. I have sold a ton of donations, so for others, that was not real world money spent. Just keep it in mind, they may not value the circumstance the same way you do.

This is why I always shut off my supporter tag.

 

Well chances are if you do a loan, i would certainly have made a contract on the forum.

And then when he is asking you for a loan, people in the real world dont just say "yeah sure" they run a background check on you and look at their credit history.
So either the people before you didnt make contracts, then they are just asking to be scammed or they made contracts and you didnt do any background checking?
Which was it?

 

I wonder how hard it would be to make a credit history system... distill complaints and disputes into a numerical value over time.

 

Well lets not be to quick to judge altabyte was trusted he paid off a ton of loans but alot of people did not know he still had another 1-2 million to payoff thats why if you want to get in the loan business you ask these questions beforehand like do you have current loans? and stuff you're concerned about ive been scammed 1 mil+ since ive been on the server but im ok with that cause for one its just a game and it is also my fault for not being smart enough ive learned from these mistakes and i have moved on loaning and renting star tools are a risky business either dont do it or be very smart and cautious.

 

If you had someone dedicated enough to keep track of the contracts with people, then you could have a google document that covers all the contracts and who paid and who was late etc.

But it would take a lot of work and youd also have to ask the senior staff if they have removed any contract topics. It would all have to be done manually though which would be hard work.

 

The thing is though just because they have a bad history doesnt mean they will scam again and just because they have no complaints doesnt mean that they wont scam.

 

With all due respect, I don't believe he scammed us. I'm aware he had alot of loans and then was unable to pay them. I think "scam" should only be used with intent. And I knew he owed several other people money, he has a building in the middle of his town with both a trade sign to pay me and a wall with signs reminding him to pay people.

I'd like a mod to lock, and potentially remove this thread as it's not only discussing banned users, but slandering them as well.

 

Thats true but people are less likely to offer big loans to people who have made late payments and things before.
But that doesnt mean you wont be able to get loans.
It the real world if you have a bad credit, then you simply either have to buy things yourself or you have to pay more back, bigger interest.
And it would encourage people to not take on more then they need to because you deserve not to get another loan if you dont meet the contract and pay everything back.

 

its not really slander crazy because it is partially true i know that alta did not purposely scam but it is his fault for taking all these loans and lottoing them and instead of paying loans off buying ranks like mayor and pres and ereps

 

Correct, but there is no purpose for this thread. Everyone knows he is banned for his lack of loan payments.

It's completely unnecessary and blatantly rude. This thread has done nothing for us except flame, and then slander Altabyte's name. I will be pm'ing a staff to lock this, while I'd strongly suggest you edit this out to prevent my future complaint against whomever may have slandered his name.
This particularly applies to @ChaoticChess, the creator of this thread.

 

Scams never have the money re

Scams never have money returned. The whole idea is that there is never money put into the ECC economy randomly by an Admin+. This has never been done, and I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future. This may also result in a higher number of scams, especially dual accounting and such, which requires large amounts of investigation from Admin+ to understand the situation. Might as well lock, will not happen.

 

Dont get me wrong im annoyed this thread was made and it should be locked but it is true to an extent ik like you do he had no intentions to scam but alot of people just dont know him like we did and they believe they have been scammed and wont be paid back which i do not believe is true i hope he appeals soon so he can get this all sorted out.

Secondly, I apologize, but we do not give out compensation for scams. Why?
Well, lets do some math. Based simply off of your own scammed amount, you lost 100,000. This means you gave someone $100,000 and they used the money. That means the money is already in the economy. By asking for refunds on your scam you are essentially asking us to spawn more money into the economy. Just as with real life, we do not just spawn money every time someone gets scammed. You are not the first victim of a mass scammer and you will sadly not be the last. Regardless of how much was scammed or their likelihood to return, we do not do scam refunds. The only way to do a scam refund that would not result in spawned money would require a massive server rollback. You probably would lose more money if the server was rolled back a month then you would if it was just left as it is.

All in all, I apologize, but 1) Do not make flame threads again. Calling out and attacking a specific player blatantly breaks our forum rules. 2) We will not be refunding any scams at this time. Wait for them to appeal.
