Merge the two maybe? I don't mind colors and fonts (besides underline, that's annoying as it bleeds into the person underneath, should be removed) but the fact that people change their name to something completely irrelevant makes ECC chat much more annoying to follow.
If everyone uses /leave tr then what's the point of trade chat? Thing is, the people who hide shit are the minority.
I don't like this idea, this is because some people do actually use /v to hide away for a bit. Don't get me wrong, I know some people are just in /v while happily talking in /ch g. I think that if we were to do this thing we should have it so it only shows your nickname if you're in /v and you've talked in /ch g in the last 5 minutes or something like that. I use nick to colour my name and sometimes I go into /v if I want to hide away for a bit, I'd prefer if people couldn't see that I was online while I am in /v (which was the main point of the feature, see this quote from the wiki about the /v feature): _Sharpy.
-1, whats the point of nick if people can't see it. Also, what's wrong with people being anonymous (/v + /nick)? It is a great to hide away.
Anonymity is a problem because you could break some chat rules and nobody would know who you are. If I had vanish and I felt like trolling, that's what I would do. And I'm sure I'm not the only person who thought about that.
...saying they can't see it is incorrect. They just don't have to. Most people won't care (especially if the default is on, though it should be off for staff if implemented) and won't toggle nicknames off unless there's a problem. It's like saying why bother using trade chat or global if people can leave it... they can, but most people don't unless there's some good reason to.
Well my point is that they have to see my nickname. Also, we don't know how many people will toggle it. Usually few leave global chat because most want to talk, but what is the gain in seeing someones nickname? They'd have no real reason to see it, meaning they'd be more reluctant to disable them.
Certainly interesting but this would be a bit of an overhaul on the chat message system. Would be a bit tricky to implement well, but I think it could be done.
Eh, it shouldn't be very difficult. just change the format method to have the recipients as an argument and then output a map of users and the message they receive. And with people who have nicknames disabled, just replace {sender} with prefix+username+suffix (which you should be able to get from Vault) Should be fairly simple, though might need some testing to get right. Though, to be fair, I'm basing this off the old HeroChat code, I'm unsure about how much of it changed on ECC.
rip i recently bought nick and nick+ and this happens :I still support it doe. just a bit salty it had to happen now
Most people still get to see your nick, just a handful of people who know about the command and don't want to see it will do it. It's not like it makes nick worthless or anything.
