Why would one go through AAUB instead of giving out loans for 3-8x more profit

 

Yes, but if an individual gives out loans to trusted players/ranked players there will be lower chances of getting scammed and that at the same time also comes with more profits. Also, most of the players that get loans from you are mayors+, have some sort of donation status, or has had a high rank before the main reset.

 

I for example am after one. I was a President before the reset. My new town will be held as collateral as well
