Instead of having 1 person decide the fate of a player, as they could have a grudge or know the person filing the complaint, swaying their opinion on the verdict.
In a court system it would have a private chat for the people in court.
1 judge- moderator+
2 lawyers- up to the people suing and being charged
7 jury- resident+
and 1 mod to make the verdict count and apply
Another cool feature could be a new rank or two, example: Judge, Attorney, DA, Jury, etc. This opens new jobs because the person suing pays his lawyer and half the jury and the person being sued pays the moderator, or DA, and the other half of the jury. In addition anyone is welcomed to watch the trial but not speak.
It would be up to at least 9 people as the moderators suggestion would have a great toll in the decision while leaving the fate of a player up to more than just one person. The moderator acts as a District Attorney, or DA, and makes the punishment stick. All members of the court would be chosen at random.
A court session lasts for a max of 10 minutes unless the judge calls for more time. This is only to make sure all cases are handled.
Please respond as any info is welcomed!

Do you think a court made of other players should handle Grief reports and complaints

This idea would not work, sadly. The Moderators decide the verdict.

This system is good just the way it is. This system upholds the laws of the server not player justice. There is no need to bring in players with personal feeling about the accused, if there is a system already in place that is not unto player biases.

-thinking only one person makes the decision is wrong. Staff decides what happens not one person. (Besides andrew and SG hacking) -

all you need to do is read complaints and bans to see what I'm talking about. There are even cases that prove this when the mod+ says "after discussing this with other staff members...."this is not a single judge system. I have links but i would like to keep them for privacy issues but I would pm them tto you if you really need evidence.
If there person broke the server laws and there are contracts, screen shots, ect proving this, then they are punished? Period. I dont see why other players should judge. -

It all is based on the idea that a sole power, in this case mods altogether, should not rest on them. People should make decisions for other people, as people with power should make decisions for people with power. Take the American Judicial Branch for instance.

The law is the law and if you break it you get the cons. Simple as that. -

This is a nice idea but would not work at all and why should the mods not handle the complaints because they aren't given the rank for just for asking for it. They had to apply for staff and they know what their doing.

All I am saying guys is that since we are the players we should have a say on what happens to other players. I will edit the origional post to have a moderator as the judge, then we r both happy.

There is no reason to do this because it would require much more work than is needed to handle a complaint right now.

It was just an idea and your comments really make sense! Thanks

Trust me when I tell you that things are discussed within the staff team. This system is far to complicated, and will not work on ECC. If this system were added, ban appeals would never get done, because you would have to find the time of day just to get together and discuss the appeal, or the complaint. The system we have now works perfectly fine.

After reading these i must admit the current system sounds easier
