I am looking to finally move on from the craptop. I know there is a website where you can pick your parts to build your own PC. I am asking for people to build the best PC for a cost efficient price. The user whose build I like the most will get 250k ecd. BUDGET 2.5k usd EDIT: PLEASE FORUM PM ME YOUR BUILDS I would like: 2 monitors A GOOD FAN, team liquid whatever u need. Colorful keyboard
I was calculating prices for computers the other day and buying/building your own PC for anything more than 800$ is NOT worth it. With cloud gaming now a thing, you can just play off their computers rather than having to build your own overpriced computer. Your specs can never compare to their computers and will only ever get outdated. My laptop that I play on was a beast 6 years ago, but now its kinda junky (cost me 2k) I checked cloud gaming prices and they are ~12$ a month (over 6 years thats $864 <- significantly lower)
Cloud gaming is where you stream games off a provider. So a recent example is Stadia from google. Once you purchase their service for $12 a month, you can proceed to buy games from their collection and play off their good ol super computers. Its like watching a netflix show but you're playing a game from the cloud instead. There are a lot of other service providers like Google so you need to make the decision of which one you like the best. From my research you can never compare to their computers but the downside is that you're going to be paying a lot for wifi since youre streaming stuff. But if u have an unlimited plan then you're fine. I dont see the point in building your own computer now a days ngl https://www.ubuntupit.com/best-cloud-gaming-services-available/
i agree with laggy. if you have a consistently solid fast internet connection, pay the monthly fee to try one of the services out. Better to waste 20 bucks and decide meh i prefer my own setup than spending 2k+ out the gate.
Actually you don’t even need to pay to try haha, @matrix_rep just sign up for a free trial and test it out I hear you can even play off your phones ofc I encourage you to do some research into this yourself though
its just a streaming service, so they should be including mac users. The way i think of it is like, if netflix works on your device, then this should too Gotta research into the specific provider you're looking for
just as a heads up I've been asking around on discords/friends and the name Shadow.tech keeps coming up, seems to be the go-to service

@matrix_rep when you have a final parts list, slap them into https://pcpartpicker.com/ and send me your build link via forum PM. I'll look into it for you and let you know what's up. (I used to build Desktops for a living.)
Thanks appreciate it. I haven’t had the time to really sit down and research but that’s my goal for the summer!
One recommendation I can give you is to look into shadow cloud gaming, I used their services personally for about 6-7 months, only real requirement is needs a good internet connection. I am more than happy to answer any questions regarding shadow, For some basic info tho it is just like a regular computer, you have your own desktop can download/remove what you like, change settings, ran every game I played at high-ultra edit; If you are going the route of building your own, I’d wait for the Nvidia 3000 series cards and think about getting those before getting a 2000 series
I prefer to build my own PC. I tried shadow cloud gaming a couple years back before I built my latest gaming PC. I have a solid internet connection of like 70mbp/s down and 20mpb/s upload and they recommended atleast 20 down 5 up for a good connection. I had over triple that and tried to play CSGO and Fortnite at the time, and I had input lag (Takes a slight delay for mouse to move etc) and it made first/third person shooters or any fast game almost unplayable. For minecraft it would be fine (maybe not for SG).
Things have changed over the years, I went from December - June with it myself, played rust, Mc, Call of duty, everything was fine as long as you had good internet. Yes of course there may be a slight input lag however with how they are doing it currently it’s not really noticeable. I personally changed to having a Pc cause I just wanted something that was mine to do whatever on, but shadow definitely isn’t bad for either in the interim or even as a permanent solution if you choose to do so.
I’m just making him aware that if he is going to be playing first person shooters or a fast paced game then get a pc don’t use a streaming service as there will be input lag, whether it’s big or not it’s definitely noticeable and will affect gameplay 100%.
Monitors with 5ms delay, should be purchasing monitors with 1ms delay for gaming - 2ms max also he has a 2.5k budget and you’ve gave him 2 sticks of 4GB ram, why not go 2 sticks of 8 for 16? Or even 2 sticks of 16 if he wants overkill
