Really Matty...this is pretty useless. If you don't like it then click the "report" button. If someone says "-1" then let them. It may annoy you, but there are tons of other posts that have detailed answers. Why don't we make saying "+1" illegal too? If you don't want to post anymore suggestions due to stress and pressure of "-1" then mail the suggestion to me and I'll post it with credit to you.
-1 The decision to make a comment or to explain their reasoning is the choice of the person who makes the rating. You shouldn't force them to say something, Anyway people will value the ratings that have given a reason over those with a simple -1
Honestly if I'm really tired and I see lots of -1 I will just post a -1 this isn't a bad idea but it's not needed so -1 lol jks
+1! People should have a reason, before "Hating" or "Disliking" Someones idea, it may be a form of trolling and just plain annoying. I belive that someone has to have a good reason, instead of just saying -1. -BigAl512-

What I did was trolling, and I was rightfully banned for it. However, all the people trolling this thread and not even warned... I still agree with this more than ever, most -1's are just to troll.
I didn't mean to troll you, and I apoligize if it seemed that way. I honestly forget what I was refering to at the moment, but I'll give you real feed back now. I reread the suggestion, and still disagree. Though I do not like "-1"'s myself, I do not think that they should be illegal. Again, my apoligies for the rude answer. I see a few problems with your request. 1) That would be a lot of work on the moderators. We already have quite a bit to do and patrolling the forums just to see if someone wrote "-1" would be a lot of additional work. I would recommend instead just ignoring it. 2) In all honestly if someone wants to tell you they don't like your idea but don't want to tell you why they will find ways around the outlawing of "-1" They could post instead "No" or "Down Thumb" etc etc etc. Eventually each of these things would get banned and we would be looking for a lot of different yet similar things. TL : DR - I don't think it is a good idea.
They don't do that to troll you, they do that because they want to state their opinion, Everyone has a chance to express their opinion, Also if a Staff member thinks some user is trolling, they can warn him or you can just put a Complaint against that user. --Pruneda98--
I think you misunderstood the post slightly the people on this thread posting things like 'minus one' and 'where is the -1 when you need it' are almost definitely trolling. That is not stating your opinion, stating your opinion would be writing why you didn't like the suggestion with a few paragraph, which most people have done. '-1' is just like I don't like your suggestion but I am not saying why...
+1! As i have seen, -1, all it does it puts people down UNLESS you post why. Recently i have seen -1 strings, like this, just click meh spoiler Spoiler: -1 Strings Doing that is trolling, and is a serious crime. I belive that this needs to be taken into consideration
