Seems like a fun idea, but personally if this were to happen, I wouldn't log on at all until it was over.
Why shouldn't they be allowed to reapply? They were chosen for a reason, and that is because staff think they can do the job well.
I'm not really against or for this. The moderators that were chosen (even if they were ex-mods) proved themselves worthy of becoming a moderator....
