Yes it use to be laggy as hell but have you tired the new 1.8.1 version? it got a Lot better barely if any lag.

There is plenty of plugins to stop auto cacti farms so i think placement should be re added
I find it funny how people that have never even used the plugin automatically think lag and bugs this happens for every suggestion in this case...
