The egg came first; a chicken cannot have existed without an egg first, however species that are not chickens bred to create an egg that ended up being a genetically modern chicken. Savvy?
Because let's say you bred a raven and a crow to make a "craven"; you would ask what came first, the "craven" or the egg. It was an egg because there was no "craven" before.
Well, I mean, if Jurassic Park taught me anything it was that dinosaurs laid eggs and I imagine all manner of lizard and fish were laying them before then so... yeah egg. NERD.
