A 1.8 update sure would be awesome. however, this means everything would be reset. I would lose all of my money, and all of my bases that I worked really hard on. I realize that everyone is in the same boat, so go ahead and reset. if it means 1.8 update, please do!
Personally yes we need a reset, the world has to many problems in it, sponge issue, we had a giant quartz block in the middle had to remove over 50 million blocks, its to laggy and we all need the new update to minecraft. New ideas New World
I know everyone is upset about the bases they will lose and the money they will lose but look on the bright side of everything you get all the wonderful features that come with 1.8 and there is soooo much I am most looking forward to using armor stands instead of item frames.
That's the thing. yes we've all worked very hard on our bases, however skygrid ive noticed has gotten somewhat boring lately. Resetting/updating will bring a whole new set of challenges, so we can start all over again!! Hard work will be needed to recover our bases, but I look forward to the challenge! (if we reset, which I hope)

You are right. Skygrid has been getting boring lately! All the same things in the chests, Empty chests, and They need to fix the bug where when you enter end/nether, you loose half your hunger.
I believe that AEM Skygrid should be reset. Main reason being is because it has been a long time since the last update of the server. I think that updating to 1.8 will add multiple advantages one being that the server will be up to date and should not need another update for awhile based off of how long the last update was. I also believe many of the changes and additions to 1.8 will help make Minecraft multiplayer on AEM servers more enjoyable.
