Reporting griefs and broken rules

    ITT I'm hoping to bring to the table an issue that I believe AEM has.

    The big picture is that there is very few staff on when I'm on later in the night. Thats the overlying issue but the issue that I want to talk about in this thread specifically is that I don't see a way to contact a mod or admin if none of them are on at that time. Yes I can use the mail system but doing so restricts the message to just the one person the mail is sent to, and thus isn't going to be resolved until that specific person comes on. I'm not sure how the Helpop command works but to my knowledge that will only contact any staff if they're on, with the flaw being that if none are on then the message isn't seen. So maybe there could be some kind of shared mailbox between all of the staff so that when the next staff comes on, they're able to see that someone has sent a mail to the staff mailbox and deal with the issue from there.

    Anyone's thoughts on this would be great :)

    you can file a complaint about a player here (please include any proof you might have be it a screenshot or a video, you can also report griefs in there since it usually is done by a player, instead of giving a name in that case give coordinates)
    or a bug report here (provide enough details and / or a video or screenshot or maybe a way to reproduce whatever error / bug / glitch you encountered so staff / devs are able to fix it asap).

    Also we have a command /helpop
    that sends your message to all staff online at that timing throughout AEM.
    In case they are not on the server you are on at that moment.

    **Please do not abuse /helpop only use it if its urgent like Griefing, Advertising etc **

    Sorry to say that i cant be bothered to report abuse and rule braking anymore, the amount of proof needed is just to much to bother gathering, and takes away from my time playing.
    /helpop is a great idea but the times that i have tried it i get absolutely no response so again really not worth breaking into gametime to use it.

    Staff aren't always free, They have other servers to attend to as well.
    If 1min-5min of your time is really hard to get then I'm sorry about it. You shouldn't complain if you're not bothered to respond or give your time.

    Maybe there should be more staff in different time zones.
    Not everyone wants to report or "complain" about other players, but there are a few hours everyday when there are no staff on.

    Also, do you know how many reports we get for people that are not hacking/doing anything wrong? Every single time someone loses in a pvp fight... HACK! HAX! BAN!

    you cant get 24/7 staff coverage with volunteers. you have to understand that. ppl do have lives outside of minecraft thats why we have the reports section on the forum. that way you can at least report your issue and staff can get back to it. (and no its not really a viable option to just instantly promote 100 ppl to staff. its a security issue. you dont know are they trustworthy, you have to make sure they dont abuse their powers and so on)

    as for the amount of proof needed:
    well for a grief you dont really need proof as staff has antigrief tools.
    for harassment / insulting behaviour or similiar chat related issues a simple screenshot is enough.
    for hacks a screenshot might do, better is a video. when in doubt staff can still ask the offender for screenshots of his / her MC fold so thats not even your issue then ;)

    if getting a screenshot or making a thread on the forums is too much effort ... well then the offense obviously cant be that bad ;)

    staff is trying their best to help all of the players and to solve all of the issues. but we arent gods or getting paid for doing this job so a little help from the playerbase is always appreciated.

    just my 2 cents. this opinion isnt neccesarily the opinion of all the staff.

    Nobody said that 100 people have to be promoted to staff, and yes with the timezone factor 24/7 coverage is possible or close to, as for the trustworthy issue, how is it possible to ensure someone is trustworthy?, old staff have been found to be untrustworthy and demoted, some have caused real issues for the server, it is all well and good to bring up straw man arguments but it does not solve the issue.

    Sorry if some people do not understand where i and the op are coming from on this issue but we see a problem and the replies we have had are that all is well and good, that is not the case, it is not a major problem but it is a problem none the less and a solution should be found without people becoming defensive, that is not the answer.
