Prison is a key step into makeing the AEM server big again

    Hi everyone this is my first real post on the forms so wish me luck XD

    Ok I would just like to say that the reason that AEM has been declining ( This is just what I think after playing on the server a long time) in players since 2015 is because prison has closed. To me prison was one of the only reason to play AEM and I think it was to lots of outer players as well. Ok now I'm going to list a few thing I think that the new person could be or could have in it. Which are very successful in other prisons.
    Non OP Prison (There are so many OP prison out there it really not worth it)
    Custom enchantments
    Ranks that allow you to leave the prison
    PVP in a few areas not every ware
    Guards (People who protect players in PVP areas and who also take swords/bows of players)
    Solitary confinement ( Place to jail Players who refuse to give there sword/bow or who attack players)
    Fully working Drug system
    Sections for each rank to Mine, P2P, Trade, smelt etc
    Cells and Plots
    Mods To watch over the chat

    This is just what I think would make a successful as I have seen these in many other prison and they all seam to work well and players love these features.

    I like most these ideas but the reason AEM has lost players is not because of Prison. It's been happening over the past few years unfortunately, it just needs constant updates which I think can happen now with Sway in charge. I'm also a huge fan of adding a fully working drug system, that sounds pretty dope.

    Yes well I just seemed to me like that most people who played AEM played on prison

    Being here since around 2o13 (back when we had a totally different forums), I have watched the decline of the server. Which is very unfortunate, a lot of the friends I have come to know have left. This was my first server, survival, sky block and factions IMO have always been the driving force of this server.

    If we are talking revamp, skywars could use one, and with the soon coming reset of survival and replacement of spawn, that should help.

    In reality it all boils down to consistency. For a long time Alex did well for this server, but as his commitment to the server slowly bled dry, people could see that and left. It was a combination of that and staff abuse (instances which will not be discussed). Tom is right, now that the ship is in Sways hands, things should start to pick up. The thing that needs to be overcome is the belief in peoples minds that the server is long gone, or too far gone, or not reliable. Thats what makes this place fun, the friends and family you create here.

    The last thing that I find is that we need voter commitment, I don't think rewards should be beefed up, because we are not trying to make things OP which would ruin the economy on servers. Voter commitment is what got this server great back in the day, while we were never on the top of the ranking list, we got pretty high. If we could achieve a high voting percentage for say six months, you'd see a huge improvement, because people are always looking for a new thriving server to go to, under whatever circumstances they face.

    I hope to see the server shine like it used to in the old days of Minecraft, but who knows if we can get back to that level. Or perhaps we can go farther.

    I agree with pretty much all of this. Currently the server has about 30-40 players across all servers at peak times which granted is nowhere near where it used to be, is still more than some servers and is enough players to build up from. As long as we have a great community going here (which we do at the moment) and we all keep voting then we can bring in new players this way. Hopefully we'll see the player count increase within the next year.
