Hi there, I have a grinder and it works, but it is really slow. I have made them before and they have been fine. The only difference that I can think is the height, I have 2 block height for the mobs to spawn in, does it need to be taller to let them spawn more? Or is it something else that I have not figured out?
You can try making it a multi level grinder, as in the spawning area has another layer ontop of it so twice as many mobs can be spawned. This is a simple way to increase your spawn rate.
i found out that mob ginders need to be a big dark room. I personally gave up on my grinder and i have a 99x99 platform at the bottom of my island with no light on it at all. I just use my sword to kill them and you get a good amount of xp too.
I might do what you did blake, but Bacon got on and made some major changes. If this does not work, I will make a different, larger grinder next. Thanks Bacon for the help!
just so you know the spawn rates go up and down on skyblock normally its less ppl more spawn more ppl less spawn
For a mob grinder i would recommend a big room or a dark platform especially if you have a beacon with strength I or II. You one hit every mob with a stone sword with strength II except zombies, which only has half a heart left when hit, and witches with potions.
I would recommend using the mob grinder that me and @twisted_666 use with 4 10x10 pallets and if you want more mobs just add another layer of it! Part 2
In SMP servers are the spawnrates of any mob tower usually lower, that's because everyone is sharing the mobspawns, so when more ppl with mobtowers are on, the spawnrates go down, i think...
Mobs usually spawn within a 16 block radius or if loaded chucks are still active, the spawn rates can increase. Hopefully that helped somehow lol.
Which I destroyed by putting torches EVERYWHERE!!! Muhahaha! Oh and no slimes btw, kinda sucks but you might actually not have any chunks. Anywho, my mob grander has two levels and works really well so let me know if you want any help redoing yours Flinton. I know I have at least half of one cuz I see them spawn on the edge and then jump off but I might have a way to fix that if Delvin or Volk wants to help. But I'm not 100% sure if it will work
I'm saying is this is possible to copy my island with world edit and put it somewhere else but then the area where I can build will have to be changed and move all my items from the chest so its possible just very unlikely to happen. But if it did happen I would love you forevers
Oh umm, I don't think that would be possible. But if they okay it I can build outside your limits and try to figure out a way to get the slime to go inside your limit so you can kill them. Not sure if that is possible either. @DelvinC
