Just to check something first, what version of minecraft are you using? 1.10 is quite buggy on AEM as we are 1.8 with 1.9 and 1.10 support. I vaguely remember this happening to me a while back when I used 1.10 but if you re log, I think you'll get your exp back. Let me know if anything changes.
