I'm not the only one who is angry at the length of time it takes to process hacking complaints. I don't even know why the hackers are allowed to make so much money. If I went and started hacking, I could make 2mil+ before I got banned in a month. It's mind boggling. It doesn't take more than 10 minutes to rewatch the video a few times and maybe get some more opinions from other staff. Maybe a day max for someone to see it and ask jakey, nicit, phys, smorezs, and oreo before banning. 10 minutes isn't a whole lot to ask out of a day when hacking is a real issue. It's exploiting the economy, why don't we care, but when someone xrays, we care. SG can generate just as much money as xray with the same minimum effort.
Honestly, staff are doing a much better job on dealing with hacking complaints. It takes a long time to decide because they want to make the "best call." What if they aren't hacking though it may appear that way? Staff want to make the correct decision without biase. The court system doesn't normally rush a decision. They want to look over all the evidence before taking action. Most criminals don't just get thrown in jail, however, it depends on the situation. Anyways, back to the subject. The only thing that annoys me is all unnecessary posts on these type of complaints. They should be deleted immediately, unless there is valid evidence.
Unfortunately many of these complaints are very very obvious. With that given, I would like to see quicker bans. Indecisive videos can be given the quick denial with a request for further evidence.
Oh, so you're referring to the hacking complaints that are "plain and obvious." I understand now. It would be nice, but this is probably up to the staff team to decide.
Well, people that break the rules repeatedly get off easier. A good example of this is Giant_Leader. He had scammed a ton of money, was perma-banned, then let back on again, only to scam another couple million. In the same incident, Giant had no way of paying back the money. I asked phys, jakey and more staff to just lend him a star pick so that he would be able to get the money back into the economy. NOTHING HAPPENED. I tried to fix it myself which resulted in a lot of drama that was completely unnecessary, had the staff actually done anything. I mean, there was no ill effect on the economy and no side effects of any kind if the staff had lent a star tool. Also, hacking complaints take weeks to sort out. Hence this complaint, which I completely agree with. Good suggestions are left to waste away, who knows why. A couple examples, http://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/suggestion-massive-revamp-of-kits.115291/page-4 http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/t...moved-poll-included.115213/page-2#post-620591 http://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/suggestion-no-kit-sg-arenas.116432/ and many more. Staff are very slow on just about everything. Like oxwood has said, Yeah. This is true. Complaints, Suggestions, Issues, Questions, take a lot longer than they should to get answered or be resolved. A good way to fix this is HAVE MORE STAFF MEMBERS. There are sooo many members out there that would do amazing as staff. More staff=responsibility spread over more people, which in turn lessens the responsibility for everyone. It also lessens the chance of being ignored, like has happened to me a lot. I really do think ECC is a great server, but some things need to change to get the best experience possible.
Hm.. I have to agree with most of that. However I don't think we need more staff on the team. We are fine as is.
Hacking complaints aren't in the "Moderators" department. Everything that I (As a moderator) have to do, I do. As for the other staff, I'm not too sure if I'm honest.
Honestly, hacking is the easiest way to make money for new people... hack, get banned 2 months later... appeal and have 3.5mil net value with a ton of kits and SG stats... once unbanned keep hacking until another complaint and be banned again... have a 5mil net value and all the kits needed... then they dont need hacks to win and they are rich.
I used to love getting on to ECC and hopping on some good SG. Now pretty much everyone has like 5 kits and it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to actually enjoy myself in SG. On top of that we have like 10 hacking complaints open, these people just hack and destroy you anyways. ECC better get their survival games act together soon...
Just my two cents on this, which are probably biased a bit since the tl;dr of your post is I'm not doing my job as well as you'd like. 1) The Giant_Leader situation was probably a flaw in judgement, I'll give you that. But why would we give him a star tool to help repay it? What kind of precedent does that set? "Scam millions and we'll not only let you back but also give you a free star tool!". Isn't that letting them get off even easier than just unbanning them and telling them "You scammed, figure out what you need to do"? 2) I fully agree on hacking complaints have been taking too long. I'll be discussing this with our group and hopefully we'll see an improvement. 3) All your suggestions only deal with one type of topic... other suggestions have been implemented and some are being worked on. I'll copy my response to a similar sentiment from the staff Q&A thread: There's more to a suggestion than just how popular it is. Obviously those are the ones that stand the best chance, but there's still other factors, like possibility and administrative opinion. Like, if a suggestion to, say, turn ECC into a vanilla minecraft server got a lot of +1's it still wouldn't happen. 4) More staff on the team is, well, not as good as you'd think. I've been on our staff team with 40+ people - I think that got people used to things being done instantaneously but they never saw the reverse, the hidden fights and arguments over who'd get to do what.
I do see where you are coming from nicit, but it shouldn't take a month let alone 1.5 months to handle a complaint.
Like I said, it's being worked on. Check the times on more recent ones, they may be a bit more reasonable.
