Basically, reply to this thread with something you remember doing/in general about ECC back in the day that is different today. I'll start $2.50 cactus, which was one of the top-tier ECD makers
I remember when president was the highest rank, gravel pits made money, wallstreet was the goated shop, and diemond was best at pvp
I remember $2 pumpkins, people selling ereps in /ch tr... think the going rate used to be like $200 or $250. Max Pumpkin Axes were the rage, they were like $10-12k easily. I remember when they introduced what we now know as Tycoon, it was initially called Emperor/Empress (they were experimenting with having gendered terms for ranks- that was quickly changed... for reasons) I remember before Contracts- having to type out terms and conditions in PM messages and taking screenshots for loans, lol. I remember when /raf was called /lot (lol) and dropping 200 tickets was like dropping 10000 tickets today. I remember when WeWinAgain was basically ServerAdmin... hell I remember when they invented GameAdmin. I remember the OG OG spawn- bunch of water portals, and the old spawn shop- it was so damn laggy, lol. I remember using /warp towns to go to a giant room filled with more water portals- you'd have to like.. look at the signs to figure out what town portal you were going to warp to- they were a pain in the ass to use (and are still a pain in the ass to set up). I remember when /warp mining was... introduced, actually. damn. I remember when it had PvP right outside spawn, and people would camp there too sometimes to bully players... I remember sitomo the disarming king. I remember using Ventrilo and TeamSpeak to talk to people via ECC- I was 12 years old with no mic, so... I mostly just listened. This server has a lot more regulation in terms of its economic interactions (mostly for the good)- but is way more lax on the chatting. You used to not be able to say 'shit' in global without getting a warning- saying 'you motherfuckin bitch' would probably be a mute! I'll have to come back when other things cross my mind- so much has changed, but it's cool that so many people are still around.
Obsidian used to be $30. Vote rewards used to be cooked porkchop. An old spawn had a subregion in it with PvP. The Developer rank used to be Sponsor blue. WolvieD2GMark owns a ceiling to bedrock multi-town pixel art gallery.
https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/a-small-look-into-early-2012-ecc.170778/#post-949091 The days… 2012-2013 One map. PvP outside protected towns. Wewin giving 0 F*cks before everyone became snowflakes… Awesome Mods/staff Die:Mund peaked with 113 members. PvP with unknownrider, vdub, sitomo, Mrpublic, etc.. first time on staff with Ajr00.. everyone mixed us up.. then we became friends and trolled everyone. Templateguy giving free enchanted repairs to everyone. Savior of early ECC in my book. Everyone, and I mean everyone pumpkin farming even before you could enchant. grinding for hours to get max pumpkin ace to sell for $100k ea.. at the time was the best source of ecd before the early XP days. Half the server using my portal (Oasis) making it one of the most populated and active towns at the time. I made roughly $50k a day with my shops… this was 2012 so that was a lot. there was a time when it felt like the entire server was one big family… 100s of players hangin out and chatting.. helping each other.. all that stuff.. I’m at work.. if I think of anything else I’ll add..
Easy. I use to make my money selling bread and iron tools in the mining world. As soon as you went far enough away from the spawn point you would see my chests. Also remember when so few people had e repairs that people would advertise that they were doing them for ECD.
I remember when some nights it was tough to get into the server it was so full. I miss the chat (even the trolls). I miss my first town (made it dug down to bedrock and put in animals with a huge staircase and the top was a wood pyramid). Cray Cray Lotto was amazing on weekends, what a treat when someone with one ticket would win over Andrew's 1000 ticket purchase! Survival games. *sigh*
I remember the first time I joined in 2012 and was immediately welcomed by so many members of the community. I made friends so fast and was instantly hooked. I remember farming dirt until someone got me into farming pumpkins lol. I remember getting all of my friends from school into ECC and we would spend all night at sleepovers pumpkin/melon farming and playing survival games. I remember blowing all of my Christmas and birthday money every year either buying myself features or selling them to others for like 5K/USD. Probably spent no joke like $5-10K USD selling feats lol. If only I had invested that in the S&P... hahaha. I remember the first time I got a star axe by spending $200 USD selling feats then immediately lost it when I went AFK in mining world and got blown up by a creeper. I remember building my towns and paying for other people's mayor/president ranks in exchange for placing their towns next to mine and giving them to me. Had a little empire going which was so much fun. And finally, my favorite thing was lotto hahaha. I remember the first time I even found out about lotto and won a small one with like $5K ECD. Then plowed that into the next one and so on and so forth until I had like $150K before I lost it all. I remember getting super into lotto and dropping a few million ECD on crazy weekend lottos back when that was a lot of money. My favorite part was how it would make my hands sweat and heart race every time hahaha. Now as an adult nothing ever makes me feel the same. I use stock options all the time but I never get that same rush as when I had a few million ECD on the line XD. But really, I just liked hanging out with people. I liked the feeling of logging in and seeing so many people every day that I knew and could have cool conversations with. That was really the thing that always kept me coming back to ECC and why it still has so many fond memories for me to this day If anyone here remembers me feel free to drop a DM.
ancient lore: when Andrew opened the server, Welikeike22 was already standing in spawn. Rest in peace, David. Legends never die.
I remember playing on orig map 1-2 months after the server opened it was short lived i think it was more or less a test server at that time?
Those were the days man... To think 15 year old me no life pvping would be remembered 10+ years later. This game was so special for me back then, I'm happy to see some of the OG's are still around. I would login but I don't think I have access to my account anymore . But man this server and the friends I made will always hold a special place in my heart.
