So I've been researching mayorship and think itd be awesome to have my own town! So its my next goal after I get survivor here soon...but I also realize how much work it is to have a thriving town, so asking what did you do with your town? Has it been flattened or left as is, sold out right, farm, home plots, mall?

Can you rent a whole town? Ive been toying with this notion, can you rent your entire 200x200 space? Would anyone take that deal if it were rented to a president+ for x down payment and $x/year with a contract that I retain ownership but cant evict the renter as long as they keep up payments, but if after so long the pay isnt there I can take back the property.

Is this a dumb idea or reasonable? If anyone would like to discuss this deal pm me, I didnt put this in classifieds because its more of a brainstorm and looking for feedback, whether its a silly idea or not. Ive only been on server two weeksish so just thinking out loud.

Well, you can do whatever you want with your town, and also there is no Official way to rent out your town, you can only make a deal with someone and so on

@BuildsByGideon, what did you/have you done with your town(s)?

Im not just throwing out the whole town rental, Im also looking for possible ideas for my town if I opt to keep it down the road. So Im opening up a discussion about what people have tried, what they think might be a good idea, and what they tried and failed at.

Really, i would just buy the town instead of renting it, it's a lot easier.
In the case of my town, I got it for ranking up and I had to fill a 200x200 space over water with dirt. It is now an amazing town and you're welcome to come and get ideas from it. The warp is /warp concordia. I would also recommend using brick slabs with glowstone for the roads; they look really nice together.

My Nation project (in my signature) for me is not going to be a "I'm gonna get rich off plots" kind of town. It's just me enjoying myself making a gigantic city with amazing architecture and for it to be a exciting place to visit and explore.

Honestly, I think that most people would rather have their own towns then rent a town of another user. Although if you are looking to make money from your town, you can always rent out plots, apartments, or maybe even sell farm perms.

I know that's the preferred method, but I don't think I could sign away my town...not for the going rate anyway, I'd want a lot more...but even then if I decide later I want to do a country, well I just sold my cheapest town... which is why I like the idea of renting...but I'm a long way from the 85k so I'm not stressing it just now.

Are there any farm perm towns? I'd like to at least see one, that seems like an interesting idea. What else have people done with their towns?

I turned my main town, Awesometopia, into a metropolis filled with skyscrapers and high rise buildings. There are currently over 30. Been working on this for some time. I just sell apartments to make money from it as there are only a few plots left around my farm for sale.

My second town Awesomeburg and third that my friend left me to manage, Bucktropolis, have turned more into the suburbs and is filled with houses. I mainly just sell plots to players in these towns.

Screenshots of Awesometopia can be found in my town thread
    https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/awesometopia-the-skyscraper-city.28529/

There are definitely towns that are 200x200 farms. Im sure somebody can link a /warp to one in here for you eventually. I don't know any off hand unfortunately.
