    Yes, it's down, that's obvious.

Why? 1.3 it would seem, going to be causing many problems even if the server comes back up I would presume. Therefore you should not be impatient, and not be shocked if things go wrong again after it does come back up.

I suggest playing in single-player or doing something else for awhile, just posting your rants in the forums is not going to help them get things fixed.

What it might well do is just make the admins/Andrew annoyed at you, and I cannot see any way that would be a good thing.

The server will be up when it's up, and 1.3 will be stable when it's stable, neither of those things are going to happen *now* and no matter how annoying it is there is nothing most of you or me can do about it.

    So chill out. :)

You have got to be the most mature, understanding Builder I have ever seen about issues like this.
No offense to any other builders, but... It's true. >.>

Edit: I should probably stay on topic.

Yes, 1.3/the current bukkit version/the current plugin versions are very new, so things don't really work out perfectly right now. There are bugs, some minor, some major, including one that sometimes teleports you into the void which can cause loss of a huge amount of items. If it happened to me in my current gear... I'd be really upset, and so would others. This alone in and of itself is a good enough reason to take down the server to fix it in my opinion, but there are far more issues than just that.

Meanwhile, find something else to do... Read a book, play a different game, sleep... There are many options. You will just tire yourself ranting about it and doing so will likely change nothing. We've gotten several answers from Moderators about it already and it's unlikely any more information than they have already given will be given out.

I second what D0rc said, nicely put Lasivian! The mods and admins are doing all they can to help us have a more enjoyable game, it's not their fault that there are bugs with the updated version and still they get rants when problems happen in-game and get rants when they close the server to fix them, chill out guys and vent your frustrations some other way.

I suggest playing singleplayer in LAN if you have mates nearby, or go out for a run or something, then we can all come back smiley and happy, and we can slow-motion run through the flowers in the mining world and say hello to the zombies while we have a piano solo playing in the background... Err... Umm... Sorry 'bout that, don't know what happened there! Anyway see you all on the other side then we can all have a slice of cake and a nice cuppa, yeah? :)

I'm not complaining about the fact the server is down. I understand there are issues that have to be fixed and nor am I hurrying you to fix them. But I do think the situation could have been handled a little better. Many of the questions and posts could have been avoided, not to mention the possibility of less annoyed players if a post had been made when the server first went down and stayed down. For example, something as simple as: "the server is offline due to issues caused by 1.3.1 so the problems can hopefully be addressed to reduce the risk of players losing expensive items through glitches such as tp death. This process will take some time and we apologize for the inconvenience."
The courtesy of being informed at the start of the server being down would have been appreciated. Not knowing what is going on and why, is much more annoying than having the server down for a lengthy period of time. And the post should be made by a staff member like the "1.3 Information" post made by WeWinAgain.

Yeah daemonfire44 your totally right on that I lost all my stuff and people knew about the tp problem which shouldn'tt have happened 2-3 reported cases and everyone should be told with constant alert messages about the problems and alerts saying the problem decently informative about why it is off so people don't have to scan forums for answers.

Not to be rude, but this is like telling a doctor who is working on a patient near death that "he could have tried harder to see this coming", or asking them "could you tell me what is happening?" while they're covered in blood and yelling out commands.

Also asking for clarification of what is wrong right now is much like asking a patient with a gunshot wound why he's screaming because somehow we just can't see the gaping jagged wound.

Sure, more information would be nice, but the patient is flat-lining and needs to be revived, we can all agree that is the top priority.

Right now our job is to say "Good luck", and wait patiently.

Without knowing what the issue was in the first place, you really can't say what they should or should not have done. From my knowledge I've collected reading the forum, it sounds like the server originally crashed to start. This means the owner could not handle it right away. Sure, the staff could have posted that the server crashed, but that will only lead to people asking more and more questions and attempting to figure out why. On top of that, not even the staff always know whether it was a server crash or not. It's better to have people know nothing than to give them the idea that the staff will tell them everything. In fact, more threads probably would have been made than there is now because the last thing people want is to be told half the story. How would you feel if you read half of a very well written book you enjoyed and then I take the book away from you? You would want to know what happens next, and you would bother me to give it back. Wouldn't the average person do that? If you never heard any of the story, you likely don't care about it as much. In the same way, if I told everyone "1.3 is very buggy and we are taking the server down until certain issues are fixed." then everyone would ask "What are the issues?" "Is it really that bad?" And you'd have people complaining "The [Insert bug they know about here] bug isn't that bad! Why would you stop allowing us to play for a small thing like that?" And the list goes on and on. However, since nobody knows exactly what is wrong other than "1.3", nobody can point fingers at anything and have less reasons to want to post questions about things.

Giant wall of text, too lazy to break it up...so TL;DR Informing people more on the issue may be counter-effective due to there obviously being some information wanted hidden.

If I'm just being an idiot in this post, then it's probably because I'm tired. If that's the case, I'll just edit this post away tomorrow. xD

    Yep, agreed.

On the other hand, an admin post saying "we know it's down, more info as it develops" would go a long ways towards preventing catty threads like this one.

Lol. I wish it was that simple but as D0rc said, even if we were to say something, people will still post a ridiculous amount of threads asking when it's going to be up.

It's just best to be patient and wait for the server to be back.

In hospitals, that's one of the tasks nurses do- keep the family informed. And I know this from having been the patient that nearly died on the operating table and at other times the concerned family member.

Not posting anything hasn't stopped people posting wanting to know what is going on. All that not posting has done is left people to speculate and be left in the dark. And my example I used was exactly that, because I can only make wild guesses as to why the server has been down for so many hours. All I was trying to say in my previous post was that it would have been nice if a staff member had taken a couple of minutes to notify ecocitycraft players via the forum that there is an issue, they are working on it and the server will be down for a considerable length of time. Acknowledging that there is a problem is preferable to ignoring it.

The intent of my post wasn't to run anyone down, it was to make a suggestion to improve the way the situation was handled. I think it would have been good to have staff acknowledge the server was down to help with players' concerns. Of course many of us are going to be concerned when the server is down for such a long time because it's a great server. I think lack of posts might indicate people couldn't care less. So maybe instead of finding all the posts and queries a problem you should be congratulating yourselves on having a server people are interested enough about to want to know what is happening.
