Hi, as 1.5 is coming out, I would like to suggest a few ways for ECC users to deal with it, if they don't want to wait to download 1.5. 1. If you accidentally update, you can always get the McNolstagia downgrade tool. (Link is in the latest server news). The disadvantages are that any 1.5 items in your singleplayer worlds will be gone. 2. Go to your minecraft folder (C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin in Windows). Copy the 1.4.7 minecraft.jar file to a different location. Then, update. If you want to downgrade, then replace the 1.5 .jar file with the 1.4.7 .jar file. This is quite simple and requires no external software. 3. Download Curse (www.curse.com/client) and update with 1.5. You can still play 1.5 on singleplayer and other servers, and use Curse to play 1.4.7 multiplayer. Personally, I think this is the best way to go. Hope this helps you!
It's illegal to SHARE your OWN jarfile. It's perfectly legal to share a link from the OFFICIAL minecraft file repository, this is where your client downloads the jars from.
