So with the addition of a new "fun" feature, repairing enchanted items (have the best tool/armor/weapon, repair as neccesary, realize you have kinda beat the game I guess and quit), I was thinking we must need ways to draw more people or get more donations. Why not actually add things people want or would be interested in? The End would be pretty cool, form a group of people, go in screaming, kill kill kill, collect xp orbs, celebrate, wait for The End to be reset, go again. Flying in there would make it a joke, much like pvp, but perhaps for that area it might be disabled. Mining worlds has been suggested and discussed in the suggestion forums, even people who could not agree on peace in the middle east agree they like the sound of it. Right now the only noticeable unique plugin the server offers people is whatever it is that stacks like items together for you, saving you the hassle of moving around like a terrible magnet trying to hoover up your mined/farmed resources. Maybe Andrew and the develops could find a new plugin to tweak that gives the game depth and leaderboards for people that want to compete for more then the most money on the game title. Mcmmo has been gone for awhile and using a program that has been disabled for weeks as a scapegoat for every issue is silly. With a new "fun" plugin we would have a legitimate scapegoat, yay! Other options. Surely some people have some ideas, maybe this could be a contest Andrew sponsors. Find something cool and fun to add to the server. Please no casino games and ideas. Its been done, it kinda exists and the scams that happen or advertising spam gets really old really fast.
I think a lot of people would like to have some spleef structure. I heard that there has been a plug-in that allows you to track how everyone does in spleef. We could also have a server event once a week or every other week or even once a month that costs 2k to enter and acts like a money dump. The winner would get like 50% of the total money from people who enter.
As another take on the new player island. How about a maze type structure. Upon entering the server for the first time, you are greeted with a wall of all the rules. Then there is a fork in the road with a question on a sign. Ex: "Is griefing allowed in the wild?" Then you would have two paths each with a sign in front "Yes" and "No". If you go down the path with the wrong answer, have a small 2 block drop to a path that leads back to the Rules Wall. If you go down the path with the correct answer, you would then come to another fork in the road with the next question, and so on. When a player has correctly "answered" all of the questions, there is a lift sign or portal to the main spawn point. This would force new players to actually pay attention to the rules and not just join the server and run off without reading the rules, getting frustrated, and leaving.
Nice idea, but I've popped on servers that do this. Large servers (like ours) it is pointless. Users just follow other users through and don't read anything. :/
since im at school i cant look at them but here is a list of things that you could add i dont know if i can put this on here so i hid it ... kinda Spoiler http://plugins.bukkit.org/#ti=&ta=MISC&au=&subm=false&pno=0 im going to list a few that are cool http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/treasurehunt/ http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/rpg-he ... 1r4.27358/
Maybe just an informational area with all of our rules. It would be better than the signboard we currently have.
I voted for mcmmo since im biased towards it. A mining land that gets reset every so often like the nether, that would be awesome! It should have the same rule set as the aether, is a reseeded world (mineshafts and all) and could leave mob spawning on in the higher ranks. Also you could have purchasable ranks in the same manner that the other two instances have. As for the player island idea at least changing the rules board from a wall of text to something that encourages reading of it may help to curb some of the lack of rules knowledge. Though we all know that people still wont comprehend what they read.
Everyone should be voting for the player island, notice the complaints about builders scamming and such? Yea, a starter island may help.
I like the idea of both a new player island and mining worlds. I would like to see some economic variation. Like for a couple of days, the server price of pumpkins drops to $0.50. I think that might make the economy more diverse because at the moment, the way to make money is to rent, buy, then build your own pumpkin farm. Periodically changing prices might make other business ventures more profitable. Just an idea
I think the end would be good but why not have a set price for exp and make it available to everyone instead of digging around to find if its available to pick up also being able to buy spawners so every town would be able to buy one instead of having to look for it undergorund and possibly not having one.
You can buy exp at the spawn enchantment buildings. At least you could the last time I was over there about a week ago.
