Please explain Skyblock to me like I'm 5. I played it when it was a thing on singleplayer but what changes for Skyblock Survival on a server? Never tried it but I'm excited for it. Some questions: Is there pvp? Am I going to be defending my island? Is there grief? Will people be raiding me? Do you team up or is it a solo thing? How big of a space do I have for my island? Will it be like a town where I own it or anyone can come take it from me? Will I need pyro and water to make cobblestone..? Or is that going to be free? Other than that any advice/explanation/etc is welcome. Thanks guys!
To answer a few of these questions; No, you will be on your own, private island. No there is not grief unless you add someone to your island then I'd assume it's legal. It depends on Andrew and how he sets it up, I'd assume you'd be able to add other players to your island kind of like towns but I'm not sure If Andrew sets it up like normal skyblock then you should be able to expand your island as far out as you can. I'm not sure on this one, it depends on how Andrew sets it up. I'd assume that it is free, but I couldn't tell you. A quick explanation from planetminecraft;
A skyblock server is about building up your island you get a dedicated zone and a starting island. Normally the game is based around making mob spawn grinders, starting off with cows working up to creepers/IGs. Every sever is a bit different. Your island level is based on the blocks used to build each block placed has a unique value. Diamond/Emerald/Gold/Iron blocks being best for island level. Some people play skyblocky to simply start off with your island and whats on your island to create something cool from hardly anything making cobble generators etc. Others focus on the economy/grind aspect and normally people build profit shops when they're spawner's are in surplus. Which means you could warp to someones island and buy they're drops and /sell hand making profit. It speeds it up for them and everyone makes money. These are a few angles you can come at it.
Wait, where do you get diamonds and shit? Mob spawners? My only (short) experience with skyblock is this extremely small island, where the only blocks you can generate are basically wood (from the single starting tree + saplings, if you're wise enough to collect them) and cobble (with water and lava), where even dirt is limited to the few blocks present in the small island you spawn into and the only food available is apples (if you're lucky). So, I'm confused: where does all this stuff come from? How do you get it, if there's no "land" where to gather it?
Skyblock is so fun, like 5 hours a day fun. You start out with some water seeds and a tree. Task is to either make a lot of money or go for island levels which are obtained by building. There are normally challenges you can complete for redstone which helps a lot for auto farms and stone gens. Stonebrick is one of a skyblockers main building blocks so it's important to make a good redstone one. After all this you make a giant platform and build stuff on it. Most people make their island lower than layer 50 so most people make another layer which is a 1 thick block that makes a huge platform. So another one is normally made at y 1 for slimes
WAT? Unless Mojang changed something, this doesn't seem vanilla... But, ok, all ores. What about non-ore blocks? The cobblestone generator also randomly generates that as well?
To my knowledge, it only creates ores. The other blocks you buy from a server shop. You generate money with mob spawning stuff and use that money to buy blocks. Idk. Lol.
Yeah because some servers think it's too hard for their players to make gold farms for gold, iron farms for iron, challenges for diamonds, and trade with villagers for emeralds
