Hi everybody! My name is iTzLuck, my previous names before this were RJ0026, AncientWolf, and MysteriousLuck. I mention this because some are still just finding out that I changed my name : P. But anyways onto the point. I'm trying out for the staff rank moderator on ECC because I want to help better your experience on this amazing server. I've noticed that sometimes people have complained about moderators for different reasons not really about themself, but more of an entir-ity thing. The staff on here get on as much as they can and they need more staff members to help out. I'm here to ask you guys, what could staff do to better your experience on ECC? I'm starting to make a list of stuff that moderators could do to help better you experience on ECC, so if I become a moderator, I can improve the server for you. I do have a couple things down so far I received from my staff application. This is the list already. (@SuburbSomeone 's comment) "More talkative, maybe? And maybe they could be a bit more attentive to chat and more willing to help. I like how you're taking initiative in figuring out what you could bring to the team." (@ScarabCoder 's comment) "Hmm... Maybe if staff cared more about the individual users and were willing to sacrifice more. Seems to me that don't take their responsibility too seriously." (@FuryFudge 's comment) "Yes, I also think staff should be involved in the actual community more and interact with users more, as well as showing more initiative instead of (mostly) only helping when asked. I still think the staff are great, but this is something that they could work to improve on." That is all I have so far! If you have some other suggestions for staff, please let me know! I'm trying to get a list of stuff that moderator's could do to help.
Thank you suburb for pointing that out, I didn't see that. Really sorry about that D: I will be right back, I need to go get some ice cold water on my face to wake me up xD
Not judging me cause I was a former staff member and handling situations fairly. I've seen lots of injustice during situations and pointless warnings given (You know who you are).
I think moderators are already very busy and they are pretty great. Though there's definitely room for improvement. So as long staff keep doing what they're doing, they would be doing a great job.
Thanks @Cheorex your comment has been added to. Make sure to at least please tell one person! The best way to fix something is to spread awareness of it and take care of it, one step at a time.
Nah don't take what I saying as part of your data, I don't want it to skew any results/conclusions you might get. I think staff should constantly try to improve much like every single user on ECC should strive to improve
Well, one thing that could use some improving about staff is that they don't try to get out of there way to help you, like if I ask a question while a builder in global, no one answers, so then I had to ask each person I could find the question in pm till I found an answer. And also there where plenty of staff on and talking but none would help me in the least little bit. Also at that time I didn't know that I might get my question answered if I went to spawn and asked, but that shouldn't have mattered. The one main problem about staff is that they just won't help you if you are a lower rank. Also another think, when I was looking for a home or place to live in I asked at spawn (because it was when I first joined) if I could find a place to live/stay, and I think that one of the mods could have found something for me but ignored me. And yes, that's another problem the mods just ignore you if you are a low rank ;( And this is just my opinion.
@BuildsByGideon I see what you mean Gideon. If I become mod, I will definitely be admiring all ranks. No rank defines someone being more important than someone. That is what I believe in. I believe that we are all human, we should all be treated equally with respect. And if I become a moderator, I promise I will be there for everybody. I know what you mean. When I first joined, there was one mod that everybody knows, and that was @Falconaire . He was super nice, he showed me where to get diamonds, even bought me some stuff, I look up to him as a role model. Falconaire I don't know if he plays MC still cause he is 17 so I would say he is probably busy. But back to what you said, I know what you mean. There are still some moderators that will talk to builders and people who ask questions, but some of them I've only seen talk a few times. In my staff application, I was talking about how some people complain on how cast moderators could reply back on contracts, user complaints, ban appeals, etc. And my goal as a moderator and every moderator's goal should be to make sure that all of the rules are enforced correctly for your benefit. Even as some disagree with some rules, some still agree with them. The rules mean nothing bad, just trying to make sure it's all being followed by the users playing ECC. I'm trying my best to help out everybody on the server with questions. Especially the new builders, the other day I gave a builder a small loan but they couldn't get money so they just payed me back the amount I gave them. One time, I gave a builder a pumpkin axe. I think the main problem that people have with staff is what they consider of neglection from staff and the speed that staff can get to your question, forum post, etc. I'm hoping that in the future that I can help the community. And I think I have a solution to what you said @BuildsByGideon , and that is to help them rank up. Get them the tools they need! In the future, I'm thinking of maybe doing weekly 15k giveaway for builders to get resident! Or give some residents money to get their Mayor. And possibly giveaway max picks. In this way, they can rank up and as they rank up, there is more accessible to those users and they can have more fun. Earlier, there was a builder that I was trying to get 15k so that they could get resident. They said they wanted to build a shop and so I was going to help them but they went offline. But there are some builders that I'm currently talking to like TheDuckling99 who was making casino games. This user is so creative! He had 2 casino games I thought were just amazing. I think that everybody has creativity, and not that some have more than other, but the other's that people think have more have just unlocked more creativity than others. I think that if we can all work together not just staff but all higher ranked people work together, we can help those who are new to the server. One of the reasons why some of the builders are quitting is because of kits. I'm not saying "Let's just remove kits!" because that is how the server gets a lot of its money. I'm saying that it is hard for the builders to achieve their goals with kits. So that is why I've been using kits in sg with other kitters and not using kits with those who don't have kits, to make it fair. I want to help all those new people achieve their goals because they can create amazing things we just don't know about! So that is why I'm thinking of doing something in the future with @FuryFudge to do some giveaway where we give away stuff ONLY to builders or residents that are going for mayor. (No Matrix if you're reading this you're not getting my 85k xD) My original goal on this server was to rank up and get money. But after 2 and a half years of this server, my new goal is to become a moderator and help better everybody's experience.
Well, I like what you said here, but I don't think that builders should just get a basically free 15k, they have to work for it, however I am in agree with giving them tools and a place to live so they don't have to go from no home, help or anything to go up higher. And that's why I made a corporation called builder getting started that helps them, well get started.
@BuildsByGideon thank you for your comment, I will definitely keep this in mind. I'll give them a little bit of money to start off with or a pick.
Yes, now I am not saying you shouldn't help the newcomers I am just saying they have to earn the money for resident, but you can give them whatever to help them get the money weather its giving them a job and tools or mining with you or just anything
They could pay more attention to new players (or anyone for that matter) questions in global. It's almost like a cycle of questions. They ask, no one answers, ask again, no answer, finally they decide to spam the question, he staff member finally decides to take the liberty to answer the question while telling them not to spam as well. Sometimes regular players such as myself answer those questions, but sometimes it seems like staff just wait for me or other players to answer them. Another thing is that the whole staff team in general needs to treat their friends and enemies the same while completing certain situations concerning staff. My final statement is they need less rules for staff. It happens all the time, players that were really good at being a staff member step down and break every rule in the book because they aren't used to the freedom. I even heard a well known player say in global: "I wish staff could be fun again". More freedom means less former staff trolls, and more fun socially on ECC.
I agree with you until you say, "less former trolls". Let's define the word, "former". form·er1 ˈfôrmər/ adjective 1. having previously filled a particular role or been a particular thing. "her former boyfriend" synonyms: one-time, erstwhile, sometime, ex-, late; More If you're calling them a former troll, that means they are no longer a troll. If they are no longer a troll, why can't they be on staff? And if that's true, what is a troll? Is @jmichael214 considered a troll? What about @Dewsy92. The reasoning you have is flawed and would need a total redefining of certain aspects of the rules in order to achieve your wants. P.S. There wouldn't be a staff team without them
