I only check forums/post on my Motorola Droid Razr. :) I have issues with the shoutbox and on selecting which forum i want to go to. I am suggesting making ecocitycraft.com more "phone friendly" I have no clue how difficult this is but if it is possible, it'd really make the experience of those on mobile devices better!

Change your "user agent" in your browser settings to pc or something else. Sure it wont fit the screen right, but it should render correctly and then you can master the skill of pinch-zoom.

Everything works perfect on iPad! The shoutbox was messed up for me when they first added it, but now it works perfect! :D

It is hard to maximize the website because there has to be a separate page for mobile and separate everything for mobile.

You could do it that why but it more likely that the mobile site would use a different css file as the main site, so it would be the same site but would just look different.

I sometimes browse the forums on my phone (iphone) and I don't have any trouble viewing the forums. Typing stuff is a pain tho.

The hard part is, is with a different site, they need to be constantly syncing with each other so that the forums stay properly updated, which is very taxing on the system, it is mainly only possible for things like static websites that don't get user input, only the owners input, but here, everyone inputs and would cause a syncing nightmare between the two sites.

Not true. o-o And it wouldn't be a different website... It would be the same website, with different CSS files or similar. I have seen many, many websites have mobile layouts for the same website; websites that get a lot of user input in any form.

CSS files or anything to change a layout on a website are not different websites, so it would be fine. I'm pretty sure phpBB even has some basic layouts/skins/themes/whathaveyou that are mobile-supported. There should be absolutely no syncing issues. :b No extra pages or anything. Something within the layout coding would sense when you are on a mobile device and adjust for you.

Some forums also have an option in the UCP to allow a basic, clean, mobile version layout. Not sure if ECC forum has something like that or not... It may be something that has to be added or enabled.

Anyway, I agree that it can be a pain to view the forums on my mobile device (iPhone, in this case). :/ Pinch-zoom is nice and all, but I personally have big fingers... All of the things I need to be clicking are tiny. Zooming in drastically makes it so I cannot see anything else, lol.

Instead of making it phone friendly, have a mobile site. sounds better if i think of it

There is a mod for phpBB that allows for easy mobile browsing, see my new suggestion.
